Bravo, Serena!

Good showing Hantuchova! As Mary Carillo suggested, go have a pizza with a lot cheese on. You need to beef up that body. This is not a court for models; this is the age of power tennis.

"Some shots I will hit hard but not every ball. I'm not just using my power." - Serena Williams, Oct/2002

untitled,
That depends on your perspective on life. USA's coverage of the "featured match" left a lot to be desired. I understand that the match wasn't as "competitive" as they would have liked, but the scant coverage of all the matches that Serena has played has been pathetic. The most we've seen of Serena was on Sunday, and that's because it was the only match going at the time.

I havn't seen Serena at all! Channel 9 only show women's matches when a) there are no other matches at the time or b) a seed is close to losing...and even then, their coverage of Men's matches is bad. They have only shown Hewitt once in this tournament and most of Wimbledon was delayed telecasts...Channel 7 had better get the Australian Open

Tracy Austin seemed to be in a state of shock... couldn't believe what she was seeing. Actually said that the rest of the field should just stay home. lol.

Has anyone noticed that Serena and Venus COMBINED have thus far received less airtime coverage than Davenport alone? Even though USA always heavily promotes their matches as a lure to get people to watch before they subject us to one long, interminable , boring men's match after another? (Like Roddick's today).

Anyway, what little was shown of Serena dramatically demonstrated why Hantuchova, as talented as she is, shouldn't have been on the same court with the # 1 player in the world! Go, Serena, Go!!
