why don't the power players try to learn finesse?

tennis would be more exciting if everyone played like the finesse players because it would be more balanced. it would be totally awesome to see more players play like marti, juju, kimi, dani and jenny and then the matches wouldn't be so boring being all about power.

One can only hope that the quality of your posts will develop proportionally to their number.

Hey in case you forget the point of tennis for players is: To win not to entertain the public.
Players want to win grandslams not entertain the public and loose every tournament they play in.
If you wanted to win slams would you rather have serena or martina's game?

Power is definately a factor in tennis, but it's not everything. Henin has done really well @ Wimbledon over the past 2 years and it seems to be only a matter of time before she wins it...and she's not a particularly powerful player

My freind you don't want to win slams and anyone who did would want serena's power game becuase that's the only way your going to compete in tennis in the year 2002.

You don't consider Serena's amazing angles and wild spin serves finesse? I do. I call Martina's game fun to watch but ineffective. (Today it was ugly to watch. It was as if she was moonballing it and begging Monica to put it away)

martinailuv obviously doesn't know what she/he's talking about. Clearly this observer has not been paying close attention to the actual matches that "the power players" have been playing for many years. To assert with a straight face that, for example, Venus and Serena don't play or know how to play a "balanced game of power and finesse" indicates that this person hasn't been watching tennis for the last five years or that she/he is a sheer incompetent when it comes to analyzing tennis. What a big, fat LIE these assertions are! These ancient, dusty, and wildly ill-informed/inaccurate cliches about "power and finesse in tennis" have been raging for years, and it's all sour grapes. As if one could consistently win Grand slam events and over 90% of one's matches and 12 tournaments as Venus and Serena have this year through "power alone." Don't be stupid/silly/naive! If you like the faves you mentioned in your post fine. To each his/her own. Only don't ignorantly denigrate other players you don't like with such willful lies and distortions of reality.

marti didn't play well cuz she isn't match tough and moni was too powerful. if marti was more fit she would of made moni run more and then marti could win the match.
