LOL that's NOT an era. I was thinking I'd be getting to vote on the 20s and 30s etc...

Anyway, voted for D obviously.

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

Personally 1998-2003!!! 3 slams!!
Anyway, that´s when i started in tennis, and started to like womens tennis, and watched my beloved Lindsay winning her slams!! Also Serena domination was kind of fun too, and in 2000, Martina was playing so well, and Monica too, definetly the best era for me!
D option will in by a mile!

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

1998 in particular was a great year, you had well-accomplished champions and young guns on the tour. Novotna finally got her slam title. Some of those players retired shortly after that but the tour still was great and really stayed very deep until like 2004/5.

FLAVIA PENNETTA

US OPEN CHAMPION 2015

Thank you for all these moments over the last years! Supported you until your final point!

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

Personally i would put 1997 in with the D era as i think the 1997 year had much more to with 1998-2003 then 1992-1996.

But yea D is definately my pick! sometimes I wish could go back

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

For sure D. To me, matches were so much more exciting back then. They were higher quality, and the tour had so much more to offer.

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

I would say the best period probably would have been the 70s even though it was way too soon for me. You had Court and King still major threats in the early to mid 70s. You had Evert in her prime during this decade. You have Navratilova up and coming and a major threat in the mid to late 70s. You had Goolagong, a top 15 player all time and 7 time slam champion in her prime during this decade. You also had multi-slam champions and perennial contenders Virgina Wade and Nancy Richey early on, young phenoms Tracy Austin and Pam Shriver later in the decade. You had a variety of other dangerous and very good players- Rosie Casals, Olga Morozova, Sue Barker, Betty Stove, Wendy Turnbull, Kerry Melville.

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

how come you do not have a 1999-2009 williams/williams era- it has produced 17 slams.
I love it

Henis has actually produced the exact same # of slams as Venus in that era, and did it in a much shorter span in that all her slams were from 2003-2007 and she was even not on tour or retired at the very start and end of that era. Thus if you wanted to make 1999-2009 and era it would have to be Williams/Williams/Henin.

And even though this is the women's forum, the men's side was pretty awesome, with Ashe, Conners, Newcombe, Nastase, Borg...

Re: Which has been your favourite tennis era?

1987-1993 and 2007-2009. Why did you put Hingis with Graf and Seles? I don't agree, she was of the next generation.

Yeah I totally agree. Not just great players with those you mentioned, but great personalities and a much welcomed variety of playing style.
