Battle Of Sex

I really believe that women's tennis is on a totaly different level these days than 10-15 years ago! In the mid-90-ies the top players could only beat each other.

It was in 1998 when Serena and Venus played Karsten Braasch and it was a desaster!

But Serena and Venus were very young at that stage and very up and down! Serena lost 1:6 1:6 to Joanette Kruger a few weeks later in Oklahoma City ...

But what about these days: Could Venus win a single game against Federer? Could Serena beat Diego Hartfield or the # 868 of the ATP-rankings or any male professional tennis player?

Sometimes the girls don't look that bad in the mixed doubles. Where would Sharapova be in the ATP-
Rankings? What female player would have the best chance to beat a male player? Could Marat practice with Dinara? Does anybody know if Hewitt and Clijsters ever faced eachother?

Re: Battle Of Sex

This is always a highly debated subject.

I am of the personal opinion that the female game is on a much lower level than the game of the men's. Any top 10 ATP vs top 10 WTA would be a MAJOR beatdown, of epic proportions

I doubt any women would win a single game against Nadal, because there's nothing anyone has that can hurt him. I voted, "They might win a match or two on challenger level" and I'm in fact starting to doubt that.

Regrettably a life long fan of Ana Ivanović

Funny thread. . Women can't beat men, maybe Serena has a shot to beat a top 600 player but in the juniors.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfyR4Vzn7Po i personally don't think that a woman top player could beat a male top player, but maybe they really would have a chance against lower ranked males. though i even doubt that, because serena for example said that she's got male hitting partners that are able to beat her and she thinks that's important for her training and her hitting partner is a guy who didn't have that much success on the atp-tour, so i don't think the women are able to compete with the men (clijsters played quite well against hewitt though )

Re: Battle Of Sex

Helen Wills in her heyday beat a top ten ranked male player. I've forgotten his name.

I'm sure Serena can definitely compete too especially if it's on hard courts and the male player is not comfortable on hard courts.

A better example would be Venus on grass against a clay court specialist with a weak serve.

Re: Battle Of Sex

No WTA women will ever beat an ATP guy

but there should be some interesting match up like Venus/Roitman on grass or Ivanovic/any american mug on clay

Anastasia Myskina

Radwanska - S. Williams - V. Williams - Kerber

Re: Battle Of Sex

I ask just who is feeling insecure and threatened?

Seems this type of thread pops up every so often and become nothing
more than basically bashing of womens' tennis and all about what
they could never do.

Point being, if they can't beat this guy or that guy ranked either here or
there (being stated as some unequivical fact) why the need to have it keep
coming up again and again? Proves what? That women are not men?

Re: Battle Of Sex

I'm pretty sure Dementieva could beat me. Really, really badly. Then again, I'd get to sit like a few feet away from her on the changeovers, so like I'd give a crap.

Of course, I'd have to insist on best of five to maximise my time to like 30 or 40 minutes.
