Question For People Who Went To IW

What do people think about the new sponsor BNP Paribas from the fan's point of view? Did you notice any differences from last year when it was the 'Pacific Life Open'? I went 2 years ago and again last week. I noticed some small differences that I liked. 2 years ago the tournament hired a private security company that had uniformed men walking around the grounds, highly visible, acting like the gestapo. I didn't like that. It spoiled the informal, laid back atmosphere of the event. This year, if they had security people, they were incognito, which is MUCH better. Also, seems to me that the ticketing policies were better this year. A General Admission ticket got me into more places than I was able to go 2 years ago. Some of the concessions have changed a bit too.

Anyone else notice any changes that they liked or didn't like?

Didn't go this year, but might interest you that last year, the only security I saw was at the entry area, and it was extremely lax. So I don't think the change of sponsorship had anything to do with security.

Concessions will change year to year at any tournament: really doubt the sponsor had much to do with that.

Only difference I noticed from last year were the horrible red outfits the ball kids had to wear this year

Really, don't even look at me...

I don't care for how they roped off some the areas behind the courts on the courts 4-8, so you cannot view matches from those locations. The huge sponsor logos on the backs of the ballkids was overkill.

I've never noticed the security.
