ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

I like ATP, but since Szavay is on the WTA I like it better and follow it more, so I voted the "WTA more"

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

Probably 90-10% i WTA's favour.

I follow the men's results, but I'm not emotionally involved like I am with WTA.

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

I like the WTA more.
ATP has good matches, and arguably a higher quality of tennis on a more consistent basis, but I don't care about the ATP players, so I don't really care about the outcomes.
WTA is where my favorite players are, and even with players I don't care too much about, they have more interesting personalities than the guys do.

Also, I may be in the minority here, but I prefer best 2-out-of-3 over best 3-out-of-5 set matches. 5 sets is just too long for me to maintain a high level of interest. I generally won't start watching a 5-setter until the 3rd set. I even did that with men's Wimby 2008 final, supposedly the best match ever played; so sue me!

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

Henin was my favourite EVER over ATP and WTA combined, I was a true supporter of her, I was checking her official site, news about her every day, I was mad when she lost in a Mickey Mouse tournament.

Since her retirement, I have been still watched WTA but much less than before, I actually prefer ATP because Nadal, my ATP favourite ever since I started to follow tennis for real (until RG 2005 it was Coria), is here and he crushes everybody, he is amazing, he 's been involved in a lot of great matchs last year : Wimbledon 2008 and his biggest rival is Federer, the GOAT, so what a great era for men.

And on WTA side... I miss Justine's game, her backhand, her tactics, her tennis... Nowadays, we are watching more drama/errors/choke fest than true and amazing tennis, what a shame The 2002-2003 era was great.

Give back 2006 US Open to Justine

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

I am a male, but I like the WTA more. It's more exciting in my opinion, because there is no clear favorite in a grand slam tournament. I am starting to like the ATP more know, since it is becoming "open" like the WTA.

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

WTA (alot) more.

I didn't vote WTA only because I do watch ATP and used to like it almost as much as the WTA. I do have a few favourite players and still keep an eye on results and stuff, but I just don't follow it nearly as much as I do the WTA.

Re: ATP or WTA: Which do you prefer?

Unless its a Grand Slam SF or final involving Federer or Nadal, i couldn't care less about the ATP. Its always much more fun watching two female players smashing balls at each other. I can't explain it but IT IS.

Since retiring from the tour, Karsten Braasch and his ugly-ass serve haven't a lot to do, and this is a good place to vent his misogynist bitterness over being an asterisk in the history of tennis. Or because some misogynist who worships a nobody tennis player feels like being funny but doesn't realize he isn't.

As to the thread, it depends on the years. At the moment, I prefer the WTA. I like the WTA more in the early 90s, most of the 80s, and that's about it. I loved Borg, and his rivalry with McEnroe and Connors made the ATP more interesting than Evert-Navratilova. But when he was gone, the ATP was just a breeding ground for cantankerous personalities, and I loved Evert, and then Graf-Seles had me hooked. But Agassi and Kuerten were two of my all-time favorite players (up there with Evert and Borg) and made the mid/late 90s through 2001 or so just great. And now, with the coaching job, it makes more sense to follow the women than the men, although I do like the cast of characters at the upper levels of the ATP.
