Re: Do you think the roadmap is hurting rather than helping? What are your complaints
Point of new Roadmap is not to forced elite players to play MORE tournaments, but to play SAME tournaments!
Dubai is "Premium-5" tournament which is way less level than GS or some of 4 new mandatory - but still we see 9 of current TOP10 players this week! That's never happen before in tier-I history (except in Miami) so even with some shocking upsets we still see some really high-level match-ups like All-Williams, Venus/Elena and Serena/Ana. For example, Serena Williams OR Ana Ivanovic played at 7 of last 9 Grand Slam finals but not played any time in that period before yesterday! Major reason why Serena and Ana not face each other in whole 2007 and 2008 is because they shape and draws at slams is always in opposition last two seasons AND BECAUSE THEY SIMPLE SO RARE PLAYED AT SAME OTHER TOURNAMENT! In ATP that situation between players like Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Roddick, Davydenko... is simple not possible because they all plays at least 13 SAME tournaments (all together)! Now we finally in WTA have something like this (New_Mandatory_x4 + Premium5_x5 is pretty similar with 9 ATP Masters mandatory events) so we will see much more often great WTA match-ups than ever before!
That's why I'm Big supporter of New Roadmap since first rumors about "big changes".
and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is
AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)
