The Tennis Channel can't win from losing...

...the 1 time you get a chance to feature the 2 most popular female tennis players in the US/World, you decide to boycott.

This channel has to be kicking itself or is totally clueless. From a business standpoint, it's all about ratings. That's how you get sponsors, advertisement, etc.

Someone needs to get creative over there & do it quickly. They need to find a low-budget but fun & exciting program to keep tennis fans tuning in. I got some ideas but not for free...

The program director has to be smarter though ... I haven't met 1 tennis person who says the tennis channel is great. All reviews by tennis fans have been mediocre to terrible. Someone at The Tennis channel has to know this is the case or is a complete idiot.

The tennis channel is the biggest disappointment of all time. It's not at all like I thought and they make me hate davis cup and fed cup because they show it non-stop. The tennis channel could be so much more but all their programs suck ass!

Nothing on the tennis channel is presented from the tennis fan perspective. It's people who were connected to the sport as former players or investers, but not real fans of the tour. You also get the feeling that old people make all the decisions.

I hate raquetball on that channel and those shows about tennis destinations and vacations. The channel is a little to uppity for my personal taste, but I still support that channel with all my heart- it's all we've got.

Re: The Tennis Channel can't win from losing...

You guys complain about TTC but in reality, quality programming takes a lot of $$$, something the tennis $$$ doesn't have.

To generate $$$, TTC needs advertisers. More people that watch, the more advertisers would be interested. Only problem is that no one watches tennis! The rest of the world doesn't care about tennis. They'd rather watch golf or car racing.

What is the average rating for a GS Final on a major network? I don't know either, but it is small. Take that number and divide by a thousand and you might get the average viewership for TTC (I'm only guessing here, but you get the point.)

Could TTC be better? oh yeah, of course. But right now I'm just happy that they are on the air and I happen to subscribe to it.

Life is short...enjoy it while you can.

Re: The Tennis Channel can't win from losing...

The problem with the tennis channel is they choose to show the same matches over and over and over and never cover early rounds of tournaments. Its so fucking annoying. Although I do think they give great coverae during the slams but nothing else.

True, but tennis is very popular overseas, especially in Russia. (I would assume. Perhaps someone can back me up on this). I remember reading that the US Open 2008 final between Serena and Jelena captured about 5 million viewers which isnt bad for a Saturday night.

For real!

For Dante, it follows then, that the only way to get into Hell is to insist upon it. One must deliberately exclude himself from grace by hardening his heart against it. Hell is what the damned have actively and insistently wished for.

The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Shakespeare
