A match up that hasn't happened yet - Venus vs Mauresmo at Wimbledon

I'd absolutely love to see this match up while both are playing great tennis especially if Amélie can continue her run of form from last week. It would be a great advert for the Womens game with both moving forward to the net and playing glorius rallies. I find it very strange given that both have had their best Slam records at Wimbledon that they never crossed paths.

RIP Elena Baltacha, thank you for dedicating your life to a sport we all love. You'll be missed but never forgotten.

If it's half as good as Serena v Mauresmo 2--4 we are in for it!

Yeah, back in the day Mauresmo always used to play Serena and Venus played Justine at Wimbly

They are similar in some ways Venus' serve and forehand can go off as can and do Mauresmos so there's a charming - don't know if that's the right word - vunrability from both of them but with that said Wimbledon seems to bring out their absolute best tennis. Both are great athletes and aren't afraid or intimidated by coming to net as well which is what Wimbledon is about. I'd love to see it happen this year because time is ticking and obviously deep into the second week.

yeah, I agree that it would be an interesting matchup. I like both players and it would be a real contrast in styles.

Venus would be favored, particularly after the 4th round.

Isn't Serena 3-0 against Mauresmo at Wimbledon? I only remember 1 of those matches being tough

It would be a match I'd love to see, especially if they meet in the 3R or something, could be close. As vwfan said, if it was QF+ Venus would be the heavy favourite.

They did play in doubles one year IAC.

They haven't played in four YEARS. They've won, between them, five of the sixteen slams played since then, including all the Wimbledons. And they haven't played in four years. THAT'S what's wrong with women's tennis. The great players just don't play each other enough.

Man it has been far too long since that last match at Antwerp.

What a great match it was tho

Thanks for the memories
