Espn Analyst Pick Serena as AO winner... Ana to be early upset.

Its the day before the Open, and i noticed there werent many threads about who the "experts" were picking so i figured I'd looked around...

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/ten...ory?id=3835072

Votes to Win:
Serena: 3
Venus: 2
Ana: 1

Votes to be upset early
Ana: 4
Sveta: 1
Safina: 1

Votes on "Sleepers"
Wozniacki: 2
Amelie: 1
Dellacque: 1
Chibulkova: 1
Safina: 1

I find it interesting that JJ isnt even mentioned, but techniquelly, shes ranked too high to be a "sleeper" and i dont think anyone expects her to be upset either...

Venus Ebone Starr

Serena Williams

Madison Keys

Hantuchova

Strange that Ana is one of the select few to be picked as a winner yet also deemed the most likely to lose.

Also, slightly odd that there's no Dementieva. I guess many in the tennis world don't really believe she has the mentality to win a Grand Slam. The fact she won the Olympics fighting so hard makes me think she can do though.

The world number one is not a pick so far by any "expert?"

The silence is deafening.

Makes more sense than picking a Dementieva/Azarenka final IMO.

"Ravi Ubha London-based tennis writer
Ana Ivanovic barely reached the quarters at her first tournament of 2009, and reportedly has split with her main coach, Dutchman Sven Groeneveld. "

One thing I hate the most is when journalist, who are supposed to have their facts checked, write total untruth. Ana is still working with Sven. Get you facts straight. I mean, do your job, you are a journalist. ughhh.

And how about that none is mentioning Safina loosing in the first round? She is playing Alla Kudryatseva who upseted Sharapova at wimbledon last year. And even though Safina reached finals of sidney and hopman cup, her form is not good. I watched the match against sugiyama in sidney and she was spraying every forehand into the net or way out. And her match against Cibulkova at Hopman Cup, she was playing really badly too.

ESPN is a joke in regards to most of their analysis. This is coming from a guy who spends 16 hours a day watching sports. While every now and again they hire a guy who knows their stuff, most of their "Experts" are nothing more than arrogant pricks, who don't know a hill of beans about what they are talking about.

Do you want to have the egg wiped off your face? lol

It has actually been reported that Ana has split and is no longer working with Sven... shes going the "Federer" route coachless...

And Safina was picked by someone as an early upset.....

Personally i think they got it right this time around, except it seems to me that the 3 people who picked Serena didnt know who to pick so they went with the one whose won it 3 times before.

Venus Ebone Starr

Serena Williams

Madison Keys

This article about ana going coachless ala Federer is total bs, blown out of proprtion by journalist who do not pay attention. Ana has been "coachless" since February of 2007 when she split with David Taylor. As for Sven, yeah she has been working with him ever since then, but he was never hew fulltime coach bc he is part of addidas team. Since ana came to Australia this year she has expressed that she is looking into hiring a full time coach, but she has is still working with Sven. Ever since she arived in Melbourne, a week ago, she has been getting help from Sven, and you can find many photos of them working together.
