Countries to have players ranked #1 and #2 simultaneously... who is next?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there have been a very limited number of countries with players ranked #1 and #2 simultaneously.

U.S.A. (many)
Belgium (Kim & Justine)
Serbia (Ana & Jelena)

Other countries to have come close (to have a player ranked in #1 around (not necessarily simultaneously) the time another player was ranked top 3)...
Russia (Maria & Svetlana & Dinara)
Spain (Arantxa & Conchita)
Germany (Steffi & Anke)

Other countries worth mentioning...
Australia (Mandlikova & Turnbull)
France (Mauresmo, Pierce, Tauziat)
Czechoslovakia [Czech Republic] (Mandlikova & Sukova)
Great Britain (Wade & Barker)

As I am not a rankings expert, if another country has come close, and you'd like it mentioned here, let me know!
So who is next?

NOT including the 3 countries that have got there in the past, what country do you think could be next?

Countries that currently seem kind of close (or at least not so close) include...
Russia (Many)
France (Cornet, Bartoli, Mauresmo)
Slovak Republic (Hantuchova, Cibulkova)
China (Zheng & Li)
Italy (Pennetta & Schiavone)

other countries that have some distant potential...
Great Britain, Australia, Spain, Poland (Radwanska sistahs!), Japan, Ukraine (Bondarenko sistahs!), Germany, Belarus, Austria

Right now, nobody has a shot a ths except the US.
Russia might do it if Safina and Dementieva are the finalists of the Australian Open or something like that.

Anne and Mel for GB

but realistically, maybe romania? They have plently of young juniors...

EDIT - just realised that Russia haven't done it yet which is very suprising. They should be next for sure. Romania we are talking years in the future

Kuznetsova

... for some reason.

I'd be shocked in France gets now with the current crop of players they have. If they couldn't do in the past with players like Mauresmo, Tauziat, Piercet, etc. it seems unlikely that Bartoli or Cornet will be vying for those spots.

Re: Countries to have players ranked #1 and #2 simultaneously... who is next?

Russia is closest to this at US Open 2008 SF round... but Dementieva and Safina instead to win, both lose against Jankovic and Serena. Soon or later i see Russia doing this (Sharapova and Safina/Kuznetsova) but i really dont know when.

Talking about rest of world this is not serious discussion. Real question is which country out of current BIG-3 (RUS, USA, SRB) will be next country with more than one TOP10 player (in same time)??? And this my question is very tough with possible "NOBODY" answer in next at least 5 seasons!

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

You never know folks, who expected Serbia to have two players in the Top 10 a few years ago.

I think it's very possible that France or Romania could have two Top10 players at the same time in the next five years. If you think about it five years is quite a long time in tennis - for instance some of the promising 16 and 17-year old Romanian juniors will be in their twenties at that time and in the peak of their career. Same goes for France - Cornet and Mladenovic are two big prospects for them.
