Report from ASB Classic
As many of you already know I’ve spent the past week in Auckland at the ASB Classic. Had an awesome time, here’s my report as promised
Sorry didn’t write many notes down so can’t do a Day by Day report!
Okay so starting with my favourites of the week
Nastya Pavlyuchenkova – Marry me! I am absolutely in love with this girl now, her game is so nearly perfect and she is so sweet. Reminds me a bit of Martina Hingis, anyone else get that vibe about her?
F*** that's a high ball toss!
Aravane Rezai – It’s hard not to support her, as much as I hate ball bashers some of her shots are just plain stunning. She takes all sorts of risks, and when they pay off the crowd cheers like crazy.
Aravane racing a remote control car in celebration of her win over Eleni
Elena Dementieva – Won the tournament as expected, lost in Swingball, sucks at driving racing cars, got embarrassed after being told that her last name loosely translates to Demented over
Elena Vesnina – Beat my Kittycaro and Kittynicole, was BLOODY impressive in doing so though. You can tell she loves the crowd, we sure as heck loved her!
Caro Wozniacki – Was lifted into the crowd by someone dressed as a Viking…enough said, shes a good sport.
Mara Santangelo – JESUS CHRIST never knew an Italian could hit the ball so hard and flat! If she didn’t verse a Clay courter in round one she would have progressed far into the singles tournament. Very pleased she won the doubles tournament! Was rooting for her all the way.
Mirjana Lucic – Likes to hit balls hard…would be a better player if she could hit them in the court (a couple went into the Redwood stand!)
Natalie Dechy – A sweetheart, grabbed Mara and took some photos with the musicians. Also I am absolutely in LOVE with her accent, its soooooooooooooooo hot!
Anne Keothavong – Not a bad player, can really smack the ball on occasion but seems to rely a bit on her opponent making an error rather than herself going down the line, trying a dropshot etc. A top 50 player though, at least imo
Shahar Peer – Poor girl played her Quarterfinal when there was a bunch of protesters outside screaming ‘Boycott Israel’. I do feel for her, it simply wasn’t fair for her to have to hear that.
Marina Erakovic – Broke her losing streak, the crowd is really REALLY in love with her. A pity she had to verse Elena D in round two, oh and guys – she’s injured again
Nuria Lugistera Vives – Give that girl an Oscar or send her to the hospital. She either pretends to put everything on the line every point, or she really does. She runs after absolutely everything, she puts all her effort into everything, she is simply impossible to stop. If she were a foot taller and had larger muscles she would be number on the world, guaranteed.
Ayumi Morita – The only two handed forehand player at the Classic (I think?) – it’s really a weapon for her. I think that if she grew any taller then she’d struggle because her other weapon is scrambling round the baseline and I’m guessing that contributed to her injury.
Misa Krajicek – SHE RAN INTO ME ON THE STAIRS! I’m sorry to say but she could really use with some glasses. I was walking up, she was running down and went smack straight into my right arm! I’ll forgive her…as that same day I saw she was 4-0 up against Ayumi and ended up losing (hehe).
Nicole Vaidisova – Even hotter in person! Couldn’t help but notice that she kept shaking her ass at me when about to return a serve, such a cute girl. Deserves so much better than Radek. Oh fine, nothing wrong with two wives – marry me now Nicole!
Oh and yea I took heaps of photos, my camera sucks but I'll post them up in the coming days
