Krajicek to play a 10k tournament; do you think she can go back to the top?

She started as a very promising player, she was already in the top 5 of junior tennis on her 13th. After that she was the #1 in juniors for a long time, also winning the US Open juniors.

She made a succesfull debut at the WTA tour, winning several 10k tournaments, and some big challengers. On her 16th she was already in the top 100 and don't forget that she won three WTA tournaments:

Tashkent
Hobart
's-Hertogenbosch

Her biggest succes is still her quarterfinal at Wimbledon in 2007. Her highest ranking is 30 and she has defeated a lot op top 10 and top 20 players in her career.

At the end of 2007 she lost almost all her singles matches and some big injuries ruined her 2008 tennis year. She lost more then 10 singles matches in a row and after that she had a decent grass season, with a quarterfinal at 's-Hertogenbosch. After that she got another injury and made her come back some weeks ago, she lost first round qualifying in Stuttgart against K. Bondarenko, lost first round in a 50k Against Camerin and lost second round qualifying against Fedak in Luxembourg. Now she's going to play some challengers this year, and a 10k tournament in Yersey.

Her new coach is Marc Dehous, former coach of Kim Clijsters, do you think she can go back to the top? Her ranking has fallen to #324 at the moment but she's 19 years old, so still young. I'm not really a fan but I really hope she can make it, she really has the talent, she has also showed her talent, but things are not really going the right way at the moment. What do you think?

She's in that mix of players who could be ranked anywhere between 25 and 120 depending on how much they put into their efforts

Not much to add to these posts. At 19 Misa has a lot of time. As long as she is healthy there is no reason she can't come back and be at least top 30 again, particularly as she has a fine coach behind her. But it will take a lot of work and nothing can be taken for granted.

off course she can comeback to the top! And i'm 100% sure she will.
Most people tend to forget she still is a teenager ( just like Vaidisova )

Misa just was unlucky this season with injuries and private problems. First her wrist injury in the beginning of 08. She played Auckland and the AO with a wrist injury , not smart but she learned from it. Then took some time off for her Wrist injury. Made her comeback at IW. And then the horrible slump followed.

Just went she started playing well again ( grass season ) she got injured again on her knee and underwent surgery and came back in Stuttgart.

Just bad luck

I really think she can. She has quite a good serve. That's often the thing that holds back promising juniors from pro careers. Once she gets her confidence back, she'll be in the top 20.

I love it when players go down the ranks to build back up. It's smart. Krajicek can retool her game and build confidence. Good luck.

Re: Krajicek to play a 10k tournament; do you think she can go back to the top?

Sure she can. Lots of players have had to do the same. ALG for example, and also Strycova - although it's taken her alot longer to come back into the top 100, but she's getting there slowly. Dokic too...if she ever actually plays again could be top 100 by now. Golovin's gonna have to do the same thing too next year if she can stay injuty free. Looks like Vaidisova might have to do so on a smaller level too, but they are all young, and there is no reason to think they can't come back.

I just hope Misa can get some confidence back, and work more on the mental side of the game.

Playing a small event like a 10k can only help build her confidence.

Its easy to forgot how young she is. She seems to have been around for ages, much like Vaidisova. I believe she can and will reach the top 40 again.

Kuznetsova

... for some reason.

At best, ranked b/w 21 and 30.

Now that she's "flown the nest" (of Petr The Terrible) for a new coach, sure. It happened (albeit not from so far down) for Sister Safina after she finally got her mother (a good juniors coach) to give her room to develop and stop interfering.

I agree with most of the comments here. If there is anybody who can comeback from #324it is her. Obviously 2008 has been a lost year, so a 10k to get the match toughness is better than using a sr to get into a tier 2 and facing a seeded player.
