Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

I think this may have been mentioned before but it is interesting that Kazakhstan has alot of players convert to playing for them- On the WTA Shvedova and now Voskoboeva. I noticed on the ATP Schukin and some other guys are alos representing them.

With GV and YS, I read there background- doesn't look like they were born or have lived there- seems like Moscow borncand raised but to be honest, i don;t know a lot more about them.
Alos odd that theey did it this year after the Olmypics (althogvh i think they woudl have needed a WC anyways)

Mmore to the point- anoyone know if it is a recruiting campain or if inddded these guys have a Kazakhstan background?

Also- anyone else considering a swop??

Re: Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

They may have parents that are from Kazakhstan... you never know. I really don't think it's a bad idea.

Re: Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

It's a recruiting campaign. They're going for the journeymen and -women, clearly: Golubev, Schukin, Kukushkin, Shvedova and Voskoboeva.

Who is next? Elgin, Kudryavtsev, Manasieva, Rodina?

Sharapova's parents are originally from Belarus - not Kazakhstan. Chakvetadze's father is georgian.

Likhotseva was born in Kazakstan and she always played as Russia so she went the other way

Re: Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

Shvedova's mother, a former world champion on the distance of 100km, has Central Asiatic sounding name: Nurzia Bogmanova. Maybe she indeed is Kazakh. Cyrillic google search didn't produce any further information on her.

Re: Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

Tomasz Iwanski - former Petova's coach- is working in Kazakstan. Today on polish newspaper there is big interview with him.

Kazakhstan wants to have ATP event. There will be built huge tennis center in capital of Kazahstan.

The next players who will play for Kazahstan will be : Karatancheva, they're talking with Pavlyuchenkova.

Before they "buy" new player they're talking with Shamil Tarpischev.

Re: Kazakhstan - Recruiting campaign....

well why not. Obviously the Kazakhstan Tennis Federiation supports them in I guess it´s quite hard to get the same support in Russia. Many players decided to play for Russia in the past. E.g. Likhovtseva as already mentioned, Puchkova, Nikoyan, Gasanova. Now some of them decide to play for their home countries or just switch their nationalities. Good for Kazakhstan
