I know if I search hard enough there is probably news on these tournaments.. but can anyone give me a brief rundown on the goings on with them.. And who has committed so far.

Re: Gold Coast / Sydney

Gold Coast is now a co-sanctioned (ATP-WTA) event that has been moved to Brisbane. Ana Ivanovic is a confirmed player.

As for Sydney, Jelena, Dinara and Serena have all confirmed...

Re: Gold Coast / Sydney

i have no idea. but id just like to say why with the calender being changed next year wouldnt they switch the week sydney is to the week gold coast is. No top players like to play raight before a GS. so put the tier 3 b4 the GS and a week in between sydney n AO. Plus all these tournaments are very close it wouldnt be hard. it would help the tournaments and the players could get real match practice instead of exo

Re: Gold Coast / Sydney

You should look at tenniaustralia.com.au - it has links to the tourney pages, and they would list there who has already committed. As someone mentioned, Gold Coast is being moved to Brisbane (about 75kms up the road) and will be a joint womens & mens event as of next year.

What exactly did you want to know with the "run down" of the tourneys?

From memory, Sydney always got a pretty good list, so I don't think it's 100% true about the players not wanting to play the week before a GS. New Haven always had the same going into the USO - bar this year, but that's of course because of the Olympics screwing the schedule around.

I would have thought for the later days, when I guess there isn't so many matches on the outside courts. But if it is for the first days, then that's really good! It cost $10 to get into Hobart for the first round/last day of quallies this year.

Im sure they would be. last year when I went to the GC tourney to watch qualies they were free. so I don't think you'll have too many problems if you wanted to go to brissy.
