What happens if 5 top ten players want to play Moscow next year?

Say Sharapova, Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Safina and Zvonareva all want to play in Moscow next year. Which of the following scenarios would transpire?

1. All 5 would be allowed to play, but only two would be allowed to count it towards their 10 championship series event total.
2. Only 2 players would be allowed to play?

I don't mind if scenario 1 transpires, but scenario 2 is so...Orwellian, don't you think?

I imagine Sharapova would be glad to have an excuse not to play Moscow; she never plays well there.

Dementieva Keothavong Clijsters V. Williams Mattek

How do you know 5 of them would still be top 10 after next year?

Because as far as we know the top 10 at the end of this year are entered into next years tournaments as top 10 throughout the year. If, for example Radwanska dropped out of the top 10 at the start of next year, she still has to abide by top 10 entry rules.

Dinara
Clijsters Pennetta Kirilenko Vesnina Dushevina

Laura Robson Heather Watson

Federer Nadal Wawrinka Simon Gasquet Murray

Ok what about a tournament that is not right before? My question is, can more than 2 top ten players play a one million dollar tournament? If not, how does the tour determine who gets to play and who doesn't?

Is that seriously how it's going to work!? That's awful. I would be protesting too if I were in the Top 10.

When I saw the schedule I was wondering if all the top Russian players will be there in 2009.
Hmm..

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
