The hard hitter teen is about to become the new Czech sensation…all the more her compatriot Vaidisova has been struggling with her game for few months. Last week, the 18 y.o girl made it to the QF as a qualifer at Zurich Tier II $600K. In the qualies, she ousted 6th seed/n°44 in form Pironkova. She keeps playing high level in the MD upsetting local star 6th seed/n°11 Schnyder. A revival 2nd seed/n°4 Ivanovic stopped her progression in Zurich QF.
Monica has one of the weirdest but also interesting technique in the tour. This girl who is used to hit 2 handed from both sides can also adapt her game hitting one handed slice shots. At 21 y.o, she reached another level as a Top 60 elite. Last week, she made it to the 2nd rd at Zurich Tier II $600K as a qualifer. In the qualies, she beat in straight set up coming star 3rd seed/n°39 Cirstea en route. In the MD, she even did better ousting 7th seed/n°12 Chakvetadze before falling to n°18 Azarenka.
Kristina’s classical game is starting to pay. At 27 y.o, full of maturity, she’s despatching her cleaning one handed backhand and elegant groundstrokes with efficiency to break the Top 100. She made it after being Runner up at Ortisei $100K challenger ousting 3rd seed/n°65 en route. She sadly had to withdraw in the 2nd set of the final vs local favourite WC n°182 come backer Santangelo.
Who will stop Patricia’s progression. Last week, she captured her 4th ITF titles out of 7 in her career. As Top seed at Reggio Calabria $25K challenger, she didn’t drop a set even in final against 3rd seed/n°195 Schaeffer who only won 2 games.
Good year for the 20 y.o from Argentina. Starting the year n°299, she’s breaking the Top 150 this week. Two weeks ago, she reached the QF at San Luis Potosi $25K challenger falling to 5th seed/n°231 Piedade. Last week, she even did better making the SF at Toronto $50K challenger losing to 2nd seed/n°115 Dubois.
