Just too many UEs, that was the tale of the match. Not enough first serves in either, but he should some good skill at the net.

Her timing is clearly still a little off, esp. on returns, but I think there is promise.

Go Kimiko!

Closer than the score. Kimiko wasted lots of opportunities. Seriously gurrrl, how you gonna go through a match only breaking Shahar Peer's serve ONCE?

I got to watch some of it live. LOT of UEs by Kimiko. She needs to get sharper.

Somebody break it down for me; somebody who watched and is good at analysis, please!

One strange thing I noticed. She plays right handed. But after the match she was signing everything with her left hand.

Also it was funny, Shahar was signing her three balls afterward, to hit into the crowd. But EVERYBODY you could see in the stands was making their way toward Kimiko to try to get her autograph.

Date is a natural lefty, and was taught to play tennis as a right handed.

This makes me remmember of the Belguim Player Sabine Appelmans who was the exact opossite.

Kimiko, not quite at that level just yet, the forehand side was really shaky today. Hopefully it won't discourage her in her comeback.

Re: Tokyo: Shahar Peer def. Kimiko Date Krumm 6-3, 6-1

The tools are visibly there, but she hasn't quite gotten them all connecting yet.

Top 100 is definitely a goal she should have. Peer did play fairly well, however. She's hopeless at net, resorted to plenty of moonballs (which did offset some of Date's pace), but her backhand was clicking, and she was beating Date in most of the forehand rallies (pretty sad, really).

I wouldn't be surprised if Peer lost next round. But this is a valuable win for her anyway. Prove me wrong, Shahar.

Well, who knows, someone might win a title even they're ranked 500 in the tour, looking at the condition of the tour. So why not bother to try?

Kimiko
Congrats Shahar!

I don't know. Why does someone with an IQ of 38 keep trying to form coherent sentences?
