Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

I had not seen this before, but why would her sponsor and handler want her to switch racket at this point of the season.Couldn't they at least wait until the end of the season?

New Yonex Racquet for Ana Ivanovic
Posted by Aaress Lawless

2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic headed to Tokyo for the Toray Pan Pacific Open with a new racquet in her bag.

The former world number one has switched to a new stick, the Yonex RQiS 1Tour XL.

According to Ana Ivanovic’s website, it will be available for sale to the general public soon.

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

Maybe they thought it'll help her find her form.

Though i agree, a raquet change is a big deal (unless it's a paint job). She should wait until the end of the season.

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

actually it looks a little bigger than the other one. I like the style of it. I remember Serena switching mid season to the Wilson Hammer the white and black version when she previously had the black and yellow version. Back in 02'.

Its just for marketing of the rackets. I'm sure its a paint job.

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

Paintjob, anyone?

If any company has an easy job of giving their players paintjobs, it's Yonex, since EVERY single one of their rackets is basically the same shape (or, at least any difference between the paintjob and the actual frame is not going to be noticed by the casual fan).

Also, perhaps because Yonex is a Japanese company, they thought it'd be fitting for her to debut it at the Japan Open?

no its something like 30g lighter. but better to debut now than at AO where she has to win next year.

That was a paint job, my friend. Serena has actually switched frames three times in her career: from Yonex to Wilson; from the Hammer to the nCode N2; and from the N2 to the [K]Factor she and Venus are using now.

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

the racket is 10g lighter than her previous racket and she felt a switch to a slightly lighter model again would benefit her game

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

why would anyone want to change rackets at the beginnning of the year when there is a slam threee weeks inot the season, now is atually the best time to adjust.

Re: Ana Ivanovic Switched Racket

maybe that is where they think the problem lies, she may want more power but alos more control from the strings, lighter racquect, bigger head.
