Vote

In my opinion:

2002
-hit harder
-fast
-eratic
-served exceptionally well
-young

2008
-extremely consistent
-experienced
-complete game
-fast
-served ok
-older (for tennis)

Re: Who would win this match?

I picked 2008, simply because she now has more shots to her game, against Safina at US Open Serena of old would have just hit through the wind, but she played amazing against Safina with such windy conditions loads my margin, and served so well moved well played well within the lines, and with Jankovic she just put the ball in places where jankovic and her speed would struggle then when she had time she stepped in and wacked the ball so hard. Serena maybe a step or 2 low but she still is one of the best movers in the game, her serve is a real treat imo the best womens serve, smooth, the action is easy, generates power and her 2nd serve kicks real nicely she had also added a wonderful body serve. This year Serena tennis has just been very consistent, not too many erratic ball out of court and managed her emotions well. Mentally much tougher and that comes with experience.

Re: Who would win this match?

Definitely Serena 2002 in straight!!

she was just even faster and that would be a big factor

and she wasn't that erratic BTW!

Anastasia Myskina

Radwanska - S. Williams - V. Williams - Kerber

Re: Who would win this match?

You saw how much trouble Serena 2008 had with Venus? Imagine an opponent that capitalized on all those set points and actually had one of the best second serves in history instead of one of the worst on tour.. oh, with a more solid forehand and some of the best footwork on tour.

Serena 2002 def Serena 2008 6-2 6-2

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.

Re: Who would win this match?

Serena 2002.

I think that it's mainly because of that version of Serena that she is the best player of her generation.

Re: Who would win this match?

The Serena of 2002 was scary to watch at times she was a class above. She would most deinatly beat the 2008 Serena.

Serena 2002 def. Serena 2008 6-3 6-4. But Serena 2008 is a fighter, so maybe she might push it to three.
