Beijing R2 Zheng def. Llagostera Vives 6-7 6-1 6-4

fought so hard!.

It is nice to see a Chinese succeding in China! Crowd went nuts after every point Zheng won! Nice atmosphere!

Match quality wasn't the best actually, but the crowd made it for that.
Jie had to recover from a break down 3 times in the last set. It was definitely a break fest the 3rd set.

Congrats Zheng

Re: Beijing R2 Zheng def. Llagostera Vives 6-7 6-1 6-4

one of the shittest matches I have ever seen, but Jie Zheng won based on 100% heart. both players were playing their C- games

7 out of the ten games played in the third set was a break of serve. jie zheng finally held in a tight game and it was over!

Serena and Venus and Dinara should have no problem winning a medal here.

Well done Jie!

Llagostera...no holds in the last set!

My commentator kept on calling Safina "Darina Safina" during the match"

Ana Ivanovic is now retired.
Justine Henin. Amelie Mauresmo. Francesca Schiavone.

I watched the match from the 2nd set (actually, 1st set TB ZJ down 4-6)
I pretty appreciated Zheng's spirit
but she gotta improve her serve,
that's really pathetic.

In reality, Jie Zheng should have won a lot easier, but the Chinese crowd is putting too much pressure on her, chanting "Add gas, Zheng Jie! Add gas, Zheng Jie" every 5 seconds.

Oh my gosh. That was a much closer match than I was expecting. She's got to improve her form if she wants to put up a fight against Safina next round.

Zheng Jie is becoming a focused player. She has game especially for her size and her serve. I know she is thrilled to win at home. Well done kiddo.
