Beijing: Experience a little of the Olympics everyday with me!!!!!
How are you? Yes you are right I am at the Olympics in Beijing! Can u believe! It is such a major thing to be here. I want to tell you a little about the Olympics everyday that I am here! Last night was the opening ceremonies and it is soooo cool to go to the opening ceremonies (more fun than the closed ceremonies). BUT I did not go to opening ceremonies. Why?? Well I was indeed thrilled to go, I have been before but I have to be honest. It is very difficult for myself and Venus to go, because what you guys donít know is you have to stand literally for 6 hours. First it is hard because USA is one of the last countries to go, and Iím telling you itís an amazing experience that everyone should do at least once but it is really hard for me to stand for that long. I am here to do my best to win the gold medal, and I was thinking I donít want my knee to start hurting, that would have just been upsetting. Also some of the athletes are first time Olympians and they never get to see us athletes like the amazing basketball players that we have on our team, as well as all the other athletes, some of the other countries go completely nuts, and our opening ceremonies consists of 10 million pictures, and 6 hours of standing, but you guys watching on TV get to see that hour of standing, and donít know everything that happens before hand.
So it is really cool but I decided not to go and to get some rest and focus focus focus.
Speaking of focusing I cant wait to play my first match. For some unexplainable reason I have been wanting to play everyday. (see my last blog) Ok so I am sure you guys are wanting to know about the air quality here. I canít lie I have been to Beijing before and I have to say that it was during the fall, and there were more clear skies. Have you guys ever been to L.A. and in the morning it is just sooo foggy and so grey??? Well that is the way it is here day and night. I will take some pics for you guys to see. But it is not ONLY due to the pollution it is also soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo humid here that it has something to do with the grayness. (just a couple of years ago when I was here and it is not as humid we saw the sun a lot) I donít quite know how the humidity affects the grayness, but I believe it due to my being here before recently and having a totally different experience. I have to tell you that after 30 mins of playing my clothes are soaked. I mean completely soaked to the point I can squeeze sweat out of my clothes and take a batch with all the water that I squeeze out. And I am not a big sweating person. So this humidity is more intense that dare I say- Florida - the most humid place in the world!!!
China is amazing. This country is so organized. When we got here we all drove in an OLYMPIC lane. The Olympic lane is for Olympic cars only. And usually there are about 2 million cars on the road well there are hardly any cars on the road. I heard that most people cant drive during the games, to keep traffic clear. Crazy no? Indeed it is!!!
What else can I say? We are all having a good time, and I miss my dogs like crazy!
I canít wait for the open to start. We will have a blast Iím sure!
Look out for pictures and shorter updates as I want you guys to live the Olympics with me!!!
