Re: Olympic Predictions

is this a joke?

Safina, Dementieva, Radwanska??

u gotta be kidding me w/ that. not a single slam champion or no.1 or even former no.1 or anyone in the top 4 will win a medal or even make a SF?

This is the women's Olympics event not the mens. What is this guy smoking?

Re: Olympic Predictions

he looks cute at least in his profile.

It's not a bad semifinal lineup to pick. There are going to be lots of surprises and upsets, so why not have Azarenka make it through, or Radwanska? Dementieva and Safina wouldn't be surprising at all, IMO. The Serbians and Americans aren't exactly unbeatable...but then again, no one is, so I don't know why the (relatively short, I know) response to this thread is in such a state of shock.

that all top 4 seed would be upset b4 the SF?
that all 4 SF would not have a slam, would not have been no. 1 ?

has the WTA sunk so low that this sort of thing is not only normal but expected??

when's the last time a slam or Olympics had a SF line up that poor??
has that ever happened?

at least at Wimbledon 2 of the 4 SF were Venus and Serena the two most accomplished active players on tour and who have both been no.1, collectively won 14 singles slams, and won 6 Wimbledon titles.

Re: Olympic Predictions

It's just like the situation with Jankovic being at #1. There are only five active multiple slam champions, and two are irrelevant at this point (though I hate saying that). One isn't here. And all the #1s right now (Vee, Serena, Maria, Amelie, Lindsay, Ana, Jelena), one isn't here, two are irrelevant, and two are considered the weakest #1s ever.

Soooooooo.

Anyway, Safina, Radwanska, and Azarenka are names for the future. Dementieva is easily one of the best veterans on tour and has made silver and been to slam finals before. It isn't a poor lineup at all, but when you expect the "stars" to make the final four at every big event, and they generally fail to do so, if they even show up...

I just hate that when it's a new face, or even an unsung one, that show up in the final stages of big events, it's considered some joke. Extremely irritating. They deserve to get there, if they do. Serena has to go through six people just as much as Radwanska or Safina would.

It's a possiblity. I'll give credit to this guy for not sticking to usual safe preditions that we're used to seeing.

Re: Olympic Predictions

If WS want to win US Open they shouldn't play in a final here. One week to rest isn't enough. Don't forget about time difference etc.

Re: Olympic Predictions

At least one of the Serbs or William sisters will be in a medal round. Adding one for a medal would be more realistic. There have been plenty of upsets at the Olympics, but usually on the Mens side.

Serena # 1

1 or 2 or even maybe 3 surprise faces is nice every once and awhile. Anyways this is just a prediction. I'm just pointing how ridiculous a prediction it is. He's basically predicting that something that I'm willing to guess has never happened in the open era is going to happen, and something that's only ever happened once in the open era will happen for the 2nd time in 2 months. Let's be realistics. All 4 of the predicted SF have a shot, but the prob of all 4 of them making it is small. And it's ridiculous that we are now predicting that no one in the top 4 would make a SF and that's just normal.
