Lets not get too carried away. Its a good result for her to finally win a $25K overseas, but she didn't beat anyone ranked above her, and only beat 1 top 300 player. She had a fairly kind draw.
That being said, she had the best win of her year in the final. She still hasn't beaten, or taken a set off a top 200 player this year other than a flu ridden Ditty at Aust Open, so to say she is ready for a US Open Wildcard seems a bit premature when Molik and Adamczak have actually had better wins this year.
No one is getting carried away.
She has been playing ITFs overseas for only 12 months, so I wouldn't say its good she ***FINALLY*** won a 25k overseas. I'd say it's good she won a 25k overseas so early in her career. In fact, this is only her 18th career 25k, and just her 4th overseas. Yes, that's right, her fourth 25k overseas. I agree she had a good draw, but she did her ranking justice, failing to drop a single set, not exactly easy when you've just come from grass the day before this tournament started.
in relation to the second paragraph of your post, she has only played 5 players ranked inside the top 200 this year, and yes she beat an ill Ditty, but she pushed Peer and Bondarenko (two top 30 players) and lost tough matches to Voskoboeva or Larsson.
Molik, having better wins this season
Apart from her win over Kanepi at the Australian Open, Molik has done diddly squat, apart from qualifying for a Tier 4 in Prague and then losing to a 16 year old wildcard in her first main draw WTA match. Like Moore, Molik has won 1 match against a top 200 ranked player, but unlike Moore she hasn't made the most of so called easy draws. Giving Molik a US Open wildcard - at this point in time, is a wrong choice. She hasn't won a match in New York since 2004, and that is unlikely to change. Only if she performs well in Montreal and the Olympics should she even be considered
And Adamczak, give me a break. She has lost more matches than she has won this season. She blew her wildcard at the Open this year, should have done A LOT better against Puchkova. there is no way TA will waste a wildcard on Monique when she is A) 25, B) having an average season, C) going backwards in the rankings not forwards.
