Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

Same as a slam, 2004, I found myself making up in the early morning to watch the Olympics for each sport.
I love the Olympics, it's such a great time of the year, where you cheer for your country

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

i would say there sort of on par with a big tier 1. the fact that not all top players are/can play them detracts from them. they will be fun to watch but i dont hold them in that high esteem.

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

Tier 1 at best to me, most see it as just under a slam I believe.

Quote:
I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when she’s on, she’s the greatest player we’ve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasn’t retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those players’ armor, but it was a different era, where you didn’t need to be the perfect player.

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

I love watching the Olympics, but in tennis winning a gold is not quite as important as winning a slam. Maybe it's in the YEC range?

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

Very. They are definitely going to be the culmination of my career, something I worked so hard for. I'll face tough opponents, as determined as me, but in the end I hope to come out as the winner, kissing the gold medal while listening to the anthem of my nation.

...

Oh wait.

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

To me, it is the biggest event outside of the slams. The 4 Slams, Olympics and YEC make up the biggest tournaments on the calendar IMO.

Lindsay had already won a gold medal, an occasion she holds as one of the best moments in her career. Since 2004 she has expressed her regret for not going to Athens, and she has made this comeback mainly because of Beijing. The Olympics are extremely important to Lindsay.

Re: How important are the Olympics for you?

I enjoy the Olympics as a whole, tuning in and out and catching a little bit of several sports.
Just for tennis, I'd rather see a player I root for win the USO than the gold.

I know Dementieva has said her main goal this year is the Olympics, but I would rather see her win the USO.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
