It was such a privilege to watch the Williams Final in Person!

So I was lucky enough to be able to go and watch the All Williams final on Saturday.

I had to post about it because it was the experience of a lifetime and one I will never forget! I was so excited as the players came out on court. My seat was sitting diagonally opposite the main scoreboard in the 3rd row. (I saw myself on tv during the presentation lol)!!!

From the first point when Serena cracked a return winner up the line, it was clear we were in for a great match. My friend Andrew and I could not get over how clean and high quality the first set was. I was cheering loudly for Serena (I love the looks you get off the stiff-upper-lip british fans when they hear an aussie loudly scream our Caaaarn (come on with an aussie accent) Serena!!!)!! They look at you as if you have two heads or something..

It was a tense, exciting match the whole way. I knew Venus was gonna win but Serena put up a terrific fight and with a bit of luck it could have gone 3 sets.

I couldnt get over the return of serve and how amazing both sisters were at picking where the serve was gonna go and getting it back! When I watched the match on tv I was struck by how much the speed of their shots doesnt come through on TV.. you really need to see it live to understand how cleanly and hard they are hitting the ball..

I kept texting my friend in Australia saying things like 'when Serena gets to game point in this game Im gonna do a COME ON SERENA' - was great her being able to hear me on tv half a world away...

I feel like Im a tiny part of this wimbledon final! Gonna keep the tape of it forever just to hear my foghorn voice in the background contributing to the atmosphere lol..

Congratulations Venus and Serena on a terrific Wimbledon final!!!

WOW. ugh. I am too jealous right now. I SO wish I could have seen this match live (in fact, I just wish I could see one of the WS live!) - I can imagine that the speed/power etc. of their shots doesn't come through on TV. I'd love to experience that in person!

Really pleased you had such a great time; thanks for telling us about it!

Muguruza Kerber
Safarova Kvitova
Jankovic Venus

Well I was cheering like crazy for Serena but I think the crowd was probably more behind Venus.. Everytime I yelled out Come On Sereana, 4 or 5 Venus fans would yell their own support!!

I remember last year's final between Venus and Marion, nice match with some amazing rallies. I imagine this year's final had an even better atmosphere with there being a roof on the court. Last year felt a bit weird we were all out in the open.

No I didnt watch the doubles. The mens final first set went toooooooo long and I had a party to go to that night so I gave my ticket to a little kid to go in and see centre court.. He was thrilled and his parents very thankful (I saved them a fiver!)..

In the Royal Box I could see Martina Nav, BJK, Jana Novotna, Virginia Wade, Margaret Thatcher, Cliff Richard - and I bumped into Greg Rusedski in the stairs going to my seat as well (tosser!!)..

Wow!!

What a great experience!

The returns of serves were something else espiecally considering how fast the serves were!!

How kind of you to give away your ticket.

I will have to try and go next year!!

I'd have much rather watched a Venus Williams Maria Sharapova final, regardless of who would have won.

Does anybody remember which side of the draw Sharapova was on? Was it against Serena or Venus?

Maria was to meet Venus in the Semi but the result would have been the same as the previous two meetings. Venus does every thing better on grass, her serve, movement, ground strokes and net play are advantage Venus.

Wow CF, sounds like a great experience for you.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the SILENCE OF OUR FRIENDS. MLK

On Saturday morning, I went to TicketMaster.com just to see if they had tickets available for the final. I couldn't believe it when it came back with a seat row & number. I couldn't believe that if I had been in London, I would've been able to go!
