ok, first how many times does Venus or Serena have to say they don't worry about rankings or seeds for the media to get it? and...
Secondly, is it too much to ask for the sexist assholes at ESPN to do a little research on any woman besides Sharapova? Vee, "Eleven is my favorite number!" .. Fower, "It is?"
i think Gimelstob's and Brad Gilbert's commentary are worse since it is so sexist and stupid
but Chris' just being an interviewer to inform questions people who don't follow tennis much have
Yea Chris Fowler is only currently one of the best sports broadcasters. Definitely one of the best at what he does. Doing tennis is like his second job. Maybe you should watch College GameDay sometime. Guy does a great job! There isn't a sport he can't cover.
You sir are the idiot! Leave it to a tennis fan to knock on Chris Fowler. what a joke.
I saw that interview and now I know why the sisters don't like talking to the press and that is because the press is ill informed about them and just downright dumb.
that meat-head Chris Fowler should stick to football...i don't know what the fuck he thinks he's doing at tennis events but he's obnoxious and knows very little, but pretends to know so much...BLAHHHH.
For a second I thought the title said "...is so hot!"
Thank god it didn't.
Yeah I caught this, and wasn't Venus wearing "Eleven" on her hat too?
And then when they cut to Cliffy, he was like "well look at that, Venus likes eleven huh? Guffaw..."
I'm sure if any male player had a clothing line they'd know.
A 45-year-old man who probably has never set foot in a Steve & Barry's store in his life didn't know that EleVen is the name of Venus Williams' clothing line. That is shocking because.....?
Please that a tennis player has their own line of clothing is a big deal for a tennis player and knowing about a tennis players sponsor is talking about tennis.
He may have been ignorant to or forgetful of the fact that Venus' clothing line is named "Eleven," but after watching him broadcast for years in both tennis and CFB, "idiot" is not a term I would ever use for him.
To me, the big mistake was when Fowler introduced highlights of the Venus-Davenport final from "two" years ago. Two thousand eight minus two thousand five equals TWO?
What's the big deal, i still don't know what 11 means, who cares, I'am guessing 10 being the best then 11 is off the charts , but whatever,it's not that important, it's a clothing line.
You're being too sensitive. There are tennis fans that do not know about Venus's line, especially men. Is that such a terrible thing? I haven't seen him at this year's Wimbledon(no TV right now), but at past slams, I like the perspective he brings. I think he's easier for sports fans(who are casual tennis fans) to relate to.
In the scheme of things, not knowing about EleVen is a pretty minor blip in knowledge compared to the vast array of ignorance displayed by commentators in general. For example, several commentators this year had no idea about Chakvetadze's mugging/robbery until told on air by a colleague. This was happening months after the incident... it's a shame that journalists/commentators/etc don't always feel the need to fully arm themselves with all the information out there, but it happens all the time unfortunately.
and to top it off, the idiot was talking about fashion this and fashion that but I'm not suppose to expect that he would know the name of Venus' clothing line/sponsor?
and the idiots still don't know that Eleven is her clothing line.... they are just idiots that don't feel they need to even take the time to do the basic research on players they know little about. :haha: They just went on about eleven being Venus' favorite number and now Patrick McEnroe even got in on the idiocy.

Well I guess Patrick McEnroe is an idiot too. He mentioned on the air that he didn't know the significance of Venus saying that 11 (her doubles seeding at Wimbledon) is her new favorite number.
If Carillo and Fernandez didn't know about Venus' clothing line, then I can see the outcry, but the guys? They probably couldn't tell you what designers their wives are wearing today, much less Venus Williams.
What's the deal about everyone freaking out about this anyways? Does the fact that a couple announcers on tv who are unaware of Venus' clothing line really matter that much? And why do you act as though it is common knowledge to know this? Those of us who don't give a crap about Venus are probably not gonna know that she has her own clothing line.
