Cinderella run generally means the player was a big underdog in a number of matches and finishes in loosing in a semifinal or final. A Cinderella ending is when they win the tournament. Its all the more spectacular when they return from injury and/or its in front of a home crowd and/or the player is a young up and comer.
But hey, thats just my view of it
Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.
How do you define it/ qualify for it??
Safina this week? Bartoli?? LenaD @ RG 04??
A Cinderella run is when a loser finally breaks through and tears up the field with good/massive scalps.
Safina this week qualifies as a Cinderella run because most people on this board thought she was done, she was a headcase, she's a mess, she's over, etc. But she knocks out Henin on clay and Serena, who is playing well and is in the finals of a 3 million dollar Tier 1 tournament.
Bartoli, I guess could be a Cinderella run
LenaD at Roalnd Garros??? Well, I think Myskina is the headliner from that slam because she was completing her own Cinderella run also, which happens to destroy LenaD's Cinderella run at the same time
Hantuchova at Indian Wells '02 and '07 = Cinderella run
Stevenson @ Wimby semis = Cinderella run
Mariah Carey - "We Belong Together" from The Emancipation of MIMI, 2005, spending 14 weeks at #1 was definitely a Cinderella run.
