Elena should skip istanbul!

Eventhough she won last year and is gonna lose some points(140) by not playing this tier3, its better for her to skip it. Obviously the real fruits are there to get at roland garros. It's pointless to let herself become tired the week before a grandslam. Focus on the big ones for a change elena! It's all about paris. (L)

She should have kicked Istanbul out and played Rome instead...but oh well...if she wins Berlim who cares?

i care berlin is nice, but we want RG The field is wide open right now and berlin clay plays like roland garros clay. If elena wants a slamfinal or win this is the time to get it. There's no topfavourite for RG right now.

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

Yeah, she should skip Istanbul.

She should do like Henin always does: Berlin, 2 weeks off and then RG.

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

Fact is, Elena ALWAYS plays the week before a slam. Some things don't change. She got tired in Paris last year, but she did Warsaw, Berlin, Rome, Istanbul, plus she was coming back from injury. She's spaced her schedule out, and regardless of what happens tomorrow, not playing Rome proved to be her best option. She would be tired going into Rome and probably lose fairly early.

I like she can possibly get a cheap title (again) before Paris for further emphasis on red clay. I don't think she'd be tired for Paris if she goes to Turkey, especially with a week off between Berlin and Istanbul and a leisurely clay schedule overall. Charleston, Berlin, Istanbul, Paris. Sounds good to me.

She also played the warsaw exhibition(4 matches) between charleston and berlin. So thats charleston, warsaw, berlin, istanbul, paris. That's a lot considering she made the charleston semi and final here in berlin. If istanbul is gonna have effect on her fitness in paris she should skip it.

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

Ideally, she should be playing Rome then RG, but she isn't. So stick with Istanbul. Taking 2 weeks off would be to much.

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

She'll probably lose first round, so whatever. Go Elena, this is a great start to her Roland Garros title

Rolland Garros is overrated...I prefer title in Berlin+title in Istambul+ early exitr at RG than skip Istambul+"good run"(4R? QF?) at RG...

I'm alaways right, even when Im wrong...

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

I say let her play so she'll tire herself out by the second week of the FO. Heck it will be one less top player for my favorites to have to worry about.

Re: Elena should skip istanbul!

Elena likes rhythmn and she is obviously looking to get this right before the FO. Its like New Haven and the USO. Elena likes to come in warm as opposed to cold, so we'll see what happens next But good luck to her all the way and especially tomorrow
