Hantuchova Steps Out Of Rome
By Tennis Week Wednesday, May 07, 2008
Daniela Hantuchova has withdrawn from Rome with a stress fracture in her right foot. Daniela Hantuchova will be in Rome next week, but she'll be rehabbing rather than playing.
The Australian Open semifinalist has been forced to step out of next week's Tier I Rome tournament as she continues to rehab a stress fracture in her right foot.
The injury also prompted Hantuchova to pull out of this week's Berlin Open.
"Sadly my stress fracture is preventing me from competing in one of my favorite cities world over. I’m doing everything I can to get back on court as soon as possible," Hantuchova told her official web site Daniela Hantuchova.com. "I’m actually doing lots of rehabilitation work in Rome now! The Italian fans are truly one of the best to play for, as they come with such excitement and passion for the game. I will whole-heartedly miss everyone this year!"
The 10th-ranked Slovakian has been sidelined since suffering a 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 loss to Karolina Sprem in the second round of last month's Amelia Island event.
