Why is the American network showing the American player? Good question.

Not according to their ratings numbers, there isn't.

Because the ESPN producers have no brains! 3 broadcasts, 3 Serena matches.

On Thursday, Vera's match against Bartoli ran long, into the scheduled 1:00pm slot for Serena v Maria. Now they sure as hell weren't going to show the ongoing match! Instead ESPN2 spent 15 minutes re-running commercials (some of them 3 times) and interviewing Conchita Martinez, who was there as a spectator. They finally showed the very last game of the match at 1:15pm!

A better question is why the WTA just happens to schedule all of Serena's matches at the ESPN broadcast times! Doesn't the WTA represent all of the players....???

Oh! How silly of me!

Re: Why is ESPN showing Serena again?

It's all based on Ratings! Serena brings in the highest ratings for the network. Plus were in America, Most Americans want to see Americans playing, especially Serena Williams. They should really show both though.

How can they have rating numbers when they don't show any matches?
