Tennis balls issue

I have been told that women play with lighter tennis balls than men. Is that so,it would mean that men not only deal with higher velocities but also with higher momentum due to increased mass. Also if that's true what balls are they using at mixed doubles, men's or women's?

Re: Tennis balls issue

They are probably talking about a "heavy duty" felt but that doesn't mean the ball weight is heavier. Just that the ball wears better.

women and men play with the same balls, in fact the balls are regulated by ITF according to stricts parameters and variables

looks the ITF APPROVED TENNIS BALLS FOR 2008

The following balls have been approved by the ITF for the calendar year 2008.
All balls are Type 2 and pressurised unless indicated otherwise.

also check research and testing
