Should the Fed Cup award ranking points?

The Davis Cup is starting to award ranking points from next year

So do you think the WTA stars should be awarded with ranking points for participation in the Fed Cup. I'm in two minds - it would encourage participation but would be very confusing.

Re: Should the Fed Cup award ranking points?

yes they should...players like Schiavone and Wickmayer, who have done very well in fed cup recently, should have something to show for this

I think they should make public what each player is earning, like prizemoney is public.

i like the idea of having the fed cup with a prizemoney system, it just seems so seedy having it all under the table.

as for ranking points im not sure?

Re: Should the Fed Cup award ranking points?

Definitely not. If some players are in the Zonal Groups beating scrubs while some are up against Top 10 players in the World Group, then how is it fair to give them points for winning those matches? And if they aren't the same, how is it fair to the players who don't as much opportunity to earn points because their country doesn't have a very good line-up?

Waiting for Ana Ivanovic to just retire already .
Justine Henin. Amelie Mauresmo. Francesca Schiavone.

I thought that they did it out of patriotism. I'm a bit surprised that they are paid for Fed Cup. I thought they just had their living expenses paid for.

Davis Cup and Fed Cup pay the players, but they keep the amounts from the public
