Do you grunt when you play tennis?

Just seeing if there is any recreational players like me who grunt...

Last year i grunted like LLW which was kinda embarrassing and ineffective because i would try to be too aggressive. Then i went for a long time without grunting.

My last couple of times playing, i've been grunting like Dokic(out of nowhere) which is kinda embarrassing for a guy. I've been playing better though so i guess whatever works.

I only grunt on the big/long points... it's quite natural to do so.
I don't grunt throughout a match on every point though, I just try to keep my breathing in check and sometimes that results in grunting. (and I'm a guy too)

No....... but I have a really annoying habit of making some noises when I make an error, especially when it was an easy shot and I really wanted that point!!

I have to teach myself to stfu when I miss.

i grunt nearly as loud as your mum when we're having sex...it's perfectly normal, it shows you are putting effort into your shots!

1. Could be showing you are putting effort into your shots, as you say.
2. Could be done without putting effort into shots.
3. Could be putting effort into shots but not grunting.

I only ever really grunt when hitting a really hard flat serve, or when stretching for a wide ball. It's involuntary really. When I actually think about grunting while playing, it just makes me go for too much and I usually make an error

like Guga

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "
