Question Why can't there be a thread about choking ?

I fail to understand why the thread 'biggest chokes of the year ???' was closed.
OK, you can post it in a more positive way, like 'best comeback' or something like that.
Still, I can't think of a better word than 'choke' for Martina's meltdown at the Australian Open.

If the topic is boring or nothing new then the thread will just die. If there are insults it can be closed.

What's the reason here ???

I agree. Especially when we have threads telling us who belongs in the top ten (not volcana's posts, they said subjective) and ones talking about the boringness of players.

I think who ever did that was over reacting .The thread had NOTHING to get locked .

We could have the same contents as in that thread but just with a different title ."Best Come-backs of the year " and it would do ????

Consider it re-opened.

How would you feel
If i was to kneel
Right down, at your feet
Right now?

I just went to reply to the 'choking' thread and, what the hell, it is LOCKED.

Why?

This was by no means a negative, 'bashing' thread. I found it quite interesting but I guess some lame, anti-free speach bozo didn't.

Was it this person that did it:

"if you want a thread which celebrates all the best and worst of tennis this current year - then fine - but a single thread for biggest choker - i think not."

Very strange, and very surprising. The "i think not" part is the clencher. When does this 'Julie' person decide the content of the thread? Must they all be positive in her/his mind from now on, or get locked. Hmmm?

I don't see it that way.

OK, 'choking' might be a negative expression, but to be influenced by your nerves is just human. When it happens it might be annoying for yourself and your fans and you might try to work on it, but it's an important part of tennis and makes the sport interesting.

there is nothing wrong when a player shows nerves in a while, I really don't get why people want to see their favs as perfect and only want to hear the good things she did and nice and sweet and all.
I admit I came to this conclusion when I spend a lot time on a fanzone on a certain board and the people their made their fav an God, angel and best human being in the world etc. it made me appreciate my own fav even more in the end
Steffi choked against Novotna once(in fact she did twice), I have no problems to say that, in fact I find it some achievement

We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams

Well that was certainly a positive approach to the situation

C'mon people, she reconsidered, agreed with you, and reopened the thread. I'd think "thanks" would be more appropriate at this point than harping on a decision that's already been reversed.

I posted that BEFORE the thread was reopened and I stick by what I said. No 'thank you's' neccessary, thank you very much!

Smile I Do Declare!

I agree with the bunch. Why are some threads closed and others are not? Is it this forum that has the most closed threads?

It is like getting a "Foot Fault" call in tennis. Is it my imagination that certain players are called for the FFs and others are left alone to step all over the line?

Mark35, the second half of my post was directed at people who hadn't posted just as Julie was opening the thread.

And no, you don't owe her a "thank you."

You owe her an appology for calling her a "bozo."

It's one thing to ask questions about why decisions get made (especially when you bother to give someone a chance to answer), it's another to just start slagging people.
