Is the Williams Domination good for the game?

Serena and Venus are presently Number 1 and 2 in the World, they also presently hold 3of the 4 Grand Slams, Jennifer holding the Aust. but is there domination good for tennis, are do you think more competition and a more competitve Top 20 would be more benefical.

I think Venus & Serena domination and the current state of womens' tennis is probably the best in long long while.

Nothing against Steffi but the post stabbing years and late 80's were tennis dark ages. Now that was BAD domination. No excitement.

At least now, even if Serena & Venus are waaaaay above the rest of the field, they have each other to challenge.

I mean the Wimbledon final was a high quality final.

Playa I was just asking a question, you don't have to answer, I didn't say it was bad or good, just asking for opinions!

At least the people who were mad about Steffi had something to be mad about

DANIELA HANTUCHOVA = #1

Good luck Nathalie Dechy & Dinara Safina too!

Presently there are 6 players in the top 10 who have been ranked NO.1 ...

I think it's great for tennis that Serena and Venus are no.1 and no.2 (though I like to see it the other way round and hope to see Monica in the mix of things)

However I admit I don't like domination, I hated it when Steffi dominated and I hated it when Hingis dominated the tour but by 1999 I started to enjoy the competition and exciting rivalries, so I understand why people don't like domination BUT since they are my favourites players I don't mind it (I know it sounds bias but that's what happens if you're a fan). It's not like they are unbeatable they work hard, they fight hard it's not given to them on a platter - the sisters have raised the bar now it's up to the other women to reach it

GO VENUS GO SERENA
GO MONICA

I think some people have way too much time on their hands. Talk about beating a dead horse.
BTW, what should your so-called question achieve rightous?

Françoise Abanda definitely a future #1 --- Taylor Townsend devastation on the march

It's good for the game. Because other players WILL raise the level of their game. The peleton almost always catches the breakaway.

Also, taller, faster players means more willingness to go to net. Or at least less fear of being passed.

good for the players, no...good for controversy, yes...good for popularity and attention, yes...good for history,yes...so id say a yes because it makes for a good advertisement and young children and minorities aspiring to be in the sports or whatever field will have proof that no matter what that they can acheive what they want to if they work hard enough...

It is temporary thing. Just like Hingis/Davenport domination a couple of years ago when the two were winning everything in sight. It won't stay for longer than few monthes. But it won't be a peleton catching up with leaders, as Volcana suggested. That will be leaders losing motivation and decreasing their level to the level of the best of the rest.
