Commentators not doing their homework

It was driving me crazy listening to Barry and Corina talk about Jelena Jankovic's possible injury in the third set and neither commentator knew that the Serbian was injured last week in the Hopman Cup.
Perhaps it wasn't their responsibility to know, but you would think somebody had been paying enough to the results last week that someone would have known about Jelena's week in Perth.
As for Jelena, kinda pissed she played Sydney but hopefully she recovers enough to have some decent result in Melbourne.

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

It is her responsibility to know if she's ccommentating for the sport. Hopman Cup was just last week. Just goes to show how informed they are. Or uninformed.

It's 2008 and I'm shopping for a new fave. Hell no! And Venus is still playing?

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

The same was in polish Eurosport. The guy was talking about possible injury, her problem with left leg
It was easy to check, she had problem since Hopman Cup.

Which one? Polish commentators never know that kind of things, they only know about things that happen during the tournament that is being shown on ES And not always

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

at least they know who she is. Most British commentators have never heard of a top ten player, if she hasn't made the semi finals of Wimbledon.

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

Commentators on british eurosport are great. You should the ones on eurosport serbia. They talk during the point some useless things and just repeat the score over and over. But shame on Morariu, for being so mean

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

corina: justine's FS is a bit low at 45%. she will need to improve on that and go to 60% if she wants to win this tournament.

thank you corina. i think she won all her matches and most GS and tournaments serving in the 40s actually.

her FS is never high. but that's how she wins. time to do some homework and stop BSing

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

I laughed when I heard the commentator said Nicole only had $4375 prize money in 2007.

But in fact $4375 is the sum she got at Gold Coast.

Following her logic, Pin will win every tournament.

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

Comments on Belgian Flemish TV is OK. They do their homework. Shut up during the points. Having no commercial breaks allows them to blabber only during changeovers which helps. They invite as co-commentator ex-players who still have played the Williams sisters, an ex-coach of Clijsters or a coach of the Davis Cup/FED Cup team.

Generally I don't complain.

Re: Commentators not doing their homework

Don't just dump on Corina folks, Barry McKay is a seasoned commentator and should have known better.
