Whoa talking about a blast from the past....

I just saw the qualifying draw for the first time today and I had to do a double take when I saw the name Iwalani McCalla, who lost in straights in the first round.

I mean talkinga bout someone who I thought disappeared. I remember she was one of the many promising junior player from the mid-late 80's who never made dent on tour.

So why after all this time do I see her name? Was she doing it just for the heck of it or is she trying to comeback to it like a lot of others?

I might be wrong but I think she is in here 30's. I seem to remember reading about her when I was a teenager.

I recall seeing her playing college tennis several years ago. No idea what happened to her offhand. It could have been a physical problem that took a while to overcome. Or she might have decided to complete her education, and is now taking a second crack at tennis. Or it might be a one-off, either for fun or as a draw-filler. We'll knnow more if she shows up in challenger draws.

In my mind, perhaps she is doing it just for fun. And who knows, if she chose to play the minor leagues, she could still have enough game in her to do well.

Bagel girls watch out you might have another player to get skunked by......
