Smile The Admiring Martina Hingis Thread!

Since I'm feeling strangely positive tonight (must be karma -- but don't tell Samantha S.), I figured I'd write a tribute thread to my favorite, Martina Hingis. Hingis fans and non-Hingis fans, feel free to write something complimentary about her.

Come back soon Martina! We all love your game, as you prove that you don't need to be strong or fast to be the best tennis player on tour! We need your beautiful groundstrokes, amazing finesse, and on-court craftiness to dominate women's tennis again. After all, who doesn't like to see the smaller, weaker person pull off the win?

With a winning record against everyone and their mother, 5 GS titles (including 5 straight finals, winning four of them), 6 straight Australian Open finals, 9 doubles Grand Slams, years at #1, and the best court-sense in the history of the game, you truly are the one to beat.

Feel the positive vibes. Post something nice!

(Oh yea, Martina, some of the guys miss your awesome bod! )

It's just great to see whenever she let the power players move from side to side....amazing stuff for a small lady like her.

Further proof that no one in the history of tennis can play like Martina:

Did you know that when she was young, she entered a tournament but broke her right hand? What did she do? Won the tournament playing left-handed...

Cool What I love about Chucky

Swiss Miss Chuckyova is the single most ruthless player on the tour. Who else would run her first round opponents side to side and back and forth all the while flashing that cold "Joker-like" grin.

She is truly the cat toying with that half dead mouse for hours on end. Unless of course she hears that Venus beat her first round opponent in 35 minutes. Then Chucky will go out and beat her opponent in 33.5 minutes.

Who else would have so much integrity for competition that once against a visibly hurting Monica Seles, she whipped her 6-0 6-0, leaving the fans to boo Monica for her pathetic effort.

Even though I am also a Seles fan, I was happy that there was one person out there on the tour that didn't give a crap about her history. The butt was there to be kicked and Chucky kicked it.

Chucky is also the most honest woman on the tour. Sure she was a little pre-mature throwing dirt on Graf's career and paid the ultimate price of public humiliation. Sure dumping her doubles partner for being too old was rough, but it was the truth wasn't it? She even admits that she doesn't like Anna getting more cheers than her, it should be by rankings not looks, right?

I look forward to watching her bully the less fortunate players in the early rounds like she used to. That is what I've missed in these Chucky free days.

Am I the only one who roots for both Chucky and the Sisters?

Venus v Chucky is the best semi-final possible in every tournament.

Good luck and welcome back (you know she's really not all that little guys and she hits pretty hard when she wants to).

If your fave's coach isn't Richard Williams, that's just her first problem...

I was there when the ALL BLACKS won the World Cup in 2011!!!

"I don't know that I changed all that much. They just found somebody worse." - Aging tennis bad boy Jimmy Connors, referring to John McEnroe, in 1984.

There can never be too many "Sister Slams!"

She is defenitly the best in the game. She might not be the strongest but she does own the game. She is the best of the best.

Nobody said YOU can't make a thread for YOUR favorite player if the enthusiam of Hingis fans bothers YOU so much.

That's ok, because few players are admired so much as the great Martina Hingis! So a thread about anyone else would probably drop to the bottom of the boards.

Did you know that when Martina was 6, she could only lose to those older than 9?

I had no idea about the breaking her hand/arm thing, thats amazing.

I love how she can manufacture these shots when she's in trouble or her opponent its the ball in a funny place... a swish of her hand and she's back in control. its amazing.
