Thumbs down What is up with some of Monica's "fans" lately?

Alright I want to know who put what in the water of SOME (please take note I say some) of Monica Seles' fans lately?

I used to think SOME(again take note) of the WIlliam's fans had bad attitudes but now all of a sudden I am seeing it in Monica's fans

Why say things like Monica was "robbed" out of her seeding at Stanford or rehash old news that really has no reflection on her game today.

So what gives with SOME of you lately?

Someone posted that Monica is looking fit and another poster had the nerve to say she looks the same and EarthCrystal got her panties in a bunch. I like Monica and want to see her do well but you cant say ANYTHING the least bit negative about her...

Well I never said that Monica was 'robbed' but I guess I objected to the seeding at Stanford. Still that was on a principle that Lindsay should have been seeded #1 not #2 but it's no big deal now that the tournament has started. I'm over it for now . Besides I like Lindsay so it's not too hard to deal with.

As for the rehashing of old news, if you mean that thread where people are going on about Steffi's career results being inflated by Monica's absence then I agree with you. That story is tired and makes me .

Incidentally, on Saturday, one of my flatmates descaled the kettle but didn't tell until after I'd used it so that's probably what (if anything) has been put in my water .

Jakeev this is nothing new. All fans get their "panties in a bunch" at times. Not all Williams fans at times can have bad attitudes and Lindsay fans are no exception.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this... ever since the 300 threads ( Warning: slight exageration ) about Monica should not retire when she got beaten at Wimby I've noticed that some fans are becoming kind of aggressive! I also kind of hate the fact that they always bring up her stabbing whenever somebody says something bad about her. Or when something bad comes up, like the seeding stuff at Stanford. Somebody said "monica has gone through so much in her life and she doesn't deserve this." I have nothing against Monica and it's tragic what happened to her but the tour shouldn't treat her different because of what happened!

I have an idea, Maybe some tennis fans should not diss players. Dissing of some players, I notice, brings up hostility in their fans. Why can't we just all get a long and respect the players for their tennis skills and not diss them because we don't like them.

I'm a big Monica fan but I have been disappointed by the whining done lately by a few Monica fans. The comments about Lindsay in some of the threads are uncalled for.

Please everyone, RELAX.

First of all, the reason why Monica fans started those "Monica should not retire thread" after the Wimbledon loss is BECAUSE many of you started "Monica SHOULD retire threads" or "Is it time for Monica to retire" threads. So it was a reply.

Second of all, it IS unfair to put Lindsay at no.2 because first of all if indeed she has the right to her protected ranking, then they should have seeded her at no.1 (the ranking that she had before), however they did it subjectvly at the expense of Monica. And also there's the fact that when Monica, Mary and others cameback from long injuries, they had to work hard without any special seedings (ex: Pierce wasn't seeded at all in her comeback. Monica was seeded behind Halard after her half year break (I think it was between end of 1999 and the first part of 2000). So we have the right to say that it's not fair that they choose to put Lindsay ahead of Monica but decide not to put her before Venus which they should in case they are following the "protected ranking" system.

As for the stabbing, whenever someone throws Steffi's 22 slams in our face, we Monica fans have the RIGHT to say that her records are inflated because of the stabbing that had that purpose. The stabbing is part of tennis history and we would all be IDIOTS to ignore it. We would even be criminals to ignore it because we would be saying to Parche "you're wish has come true".

we all want that but...it would be impossible because in tennis there is no tie or sharing, its all about someone winning and the other losing...

You are right, when talking number of career wins/slams Monica's stabbing and therefore absense from the tour is a topic that is relevant to the conversation HOWEVER Monica being the bumber 3 seed in Stanford has NOTHING read: NOTHING to do with her being stabbed so why does somebody bother to bring it up

So it was a reply.
Reply IN THE THREAD instead of starting 10 other threads about why Monica should not retire. I know I've used this example before but it's the only one I can think of so here goes lol: a while back there was a is kim clijsters fat thread and i (along with many other kimmie fans) angrily responded in that thread however you won't find any kim clijsters is not fat threads because frankly what would be the point of that

I am pretty sure that the real culprits are imposters. They aren't really Seles fans, but rather banned poster fans of other players. Haven't you noticed that the really nasty ones attack other fan groups for no apparent reason, which is quite unlike the Seles fans I remember from other boards who never initiated attacks like that, in general.
