One of the Most Underrated, Epic Rivalries of All Time:

Hantuchova vs. Schnyder.

2001 Filderstadt R32 Schnyder 6-3 1-6 7-5
2002 Montreal R32 Hantuchova6-3 7-6(3)
2002 New Haven QF Hantuchova 6-4 6-3
2002 Zurich QF Schnyder 6-7(5) 6-3 7-6(5)
2002 Fed Cup (WG-FRR) RR Schnyder 6-3 6-3
2003 Australian Open R16 Hantuchova 7-5 6-3
2003 Leipzig R16 Schnyder 6-4 4-6 7-6(3)
2004 Berlin R64 Schnyder 6-2 6-2
2004 The Olympics R32 Schnyder 3-6 6-1 6-4
2004 U.S. Open R32 Schnyder6-4 4-6 7-6(6)
2005 New Haven R16 Hantuchova 5-7 6-2 6-4
2005 Filderstadt R16 Hantuchova 6-4 6-3
2005 Linz QF Schnyder 6-2 6-1
2006 Sydney R16 Hantuchova 3-6 6-3 6-4
2006 Zurich R32 Hantuchova 6-2 7-5
2007 Luxembourg QF Hantuchova 6-3 5-7 7-5
2007 Linz F Hantuchova 6-4 6-2
Hantuchova leads 9:8

It's been seven seasons of intense battles. It seems like they always play the same optionals, especially during the fall indoor circuit. Interesting that Schnyder had Dani's number for a while with 4 wins in a row, including big 3-setters at the Olympics and the US Open (saving match point) in 2004. But now it's Hantuchova on a streak of 4 to take the slight edge in H2H.

They're 1-1 in Slams, 4-4 indoors, Schnyder leads 2-0 on clay, and Hantuchova leads 5-2 on outdoor hard.

Favorite match in particular? And will Hantuchova keep the momentum or does the old cat Patty got some more tricks up her sleeve?

I'd favor Patty's chances on clay, but if Daniela can keep it up, she's the favourite on the faster surfaces

2004 U.S. Open R32 Schnyder 6-4 4-6 7-6(6)

This is my favorite because of both Patty and Daniela's reactions at the end of it.

Re: One of the Most Underrated, Epic Rivalries of All Time:

I'm pretty sure Dani was in tears. She was quite emotional throughout the entire end of the match, especially the tiebreak. Whenever she missed a ball she would look to her coach as if the world had just ended and she was on the fast track to hell. Thank god she's improved and matured and doesn't fall apart every time she misses a forehand.

Amazing match with so much drama.

Re: One of the Most Underrated, Epic Rivalries of All Time:

I've only seen their last three matches, but I really liked all three of them. One of my first Hantuchova matches was against Schnyder in Zurich and I couldn't believe Dani played so well.

I think the Zurich one is my fave of the three I've seen, but they're a wonderful match-up against each other.

After the win and running to the net, respectively.

Funny they seem also to meet in the same events, Filderstat x 2, New Haven x 2, Linz x 2, Zurich x 2.

Re: One of the Most Underrated, Epic Rivalries of All Time:

Patty used to lead the H2H 7-3 and now Daniela leads it 9-8.

Indeed a good rivalry.
Never can predict what's going to happen when these two meet.

As a Daniela fan, my favorite match is probably Linz where they met in the final and Daniela dominated after a slow start.

Zurich and Sydney were also fun.

Not only do they play the same optionals, it seems like the mirror their crazy schedules. They usually play 25 tournies or more which is crazy.

"Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there" Unknown ???

Hoping to see great tennis from Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles, Mary Pierce, Amelie Mauresmo, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. Venus's backhand rocks!!!!!!!!!

Hingis will always sparkle in my eyes because
"No one plays like Hingis – no one else could." as Carillo wrote.

I was actually thinking about their rivalry the other day, they are the only other pair I know of besides Seles/Capriati that have went to a final set tiebreak 3 times.
