WOW, Elena is top 5
5.Venus, when working.
I sort of agree though I haven't seen much of Davenport since her return just two matches where they featured her handsome son. Adorable little kid and so well behaved it seems.
Now back to the main post, yeah Davenport has the most consistent forehand at least right up to her retirement for the past three years, before that Serena's forehand was much more of a weapon than anyone else's forehand especially when she needed it most.
Since the Aussie '05 final we haven't seen much of that form on the forehand, until this years aussie open final coincidentially. So yeah you are pretty spot on, her forehand return is otherworldly when she's playing with that form. (this is mostly due to her lack of play, form and fitness overall for sure).
Ivanovic and Vaidisova hit the forehand the biggest but in bouts at a time, they still are too inconsistent and erratic so far. Unlike Mary Pierce per se or Serena's forehand it seems when you go right at their forehand Ivanovic's and Vaidisova's forehand do break down.
At one point Dementieva had the biggest forehand but it's not the biggest at the moment but it will remain top 4 for sure especially off the return. She can be as menacing as Serena's which is no small compliment.
The thing with Venus' forehand is that it's actually funny, the harder you push her forehand the better she hits it.
