The prospect of Martina back on the tour in the near future is
becoming more and more a reality. She is planning a
comeback at the US Open, but even if she just misses out on
that target, then it's looking almost certain that she'll be able
to play the indoor tournaments at the end of the year.
It’s something that all true tennis fans should celebrate, as there's no doubt that when
Martina is missing from tennis, it just isn't the same.
According to Swiss newspaper "Blick". Martina is practising three or four hours a day
and although her ankle is slightly swollen after the operation couple of months ago, as
well as her on court practice, she is managing to cycle, to swim and also even try
some roller blading, so that shows that her ankle is mending extremely well.
The surface at her home in Saddlebrook, Florida that she's been practising on, is a
soft rubberized surface to ease stress on her ankle, the surface is probably very
similar to that used at the Australian Open. Although in the next few days Martina is
planning to move onto hard courts.
Martina is still understandingly a little cautious about her ankle saying "I have to be
careful not to put too much stress on it"
She won't be back in the next few weeks, she might miss her third Grand Slam of this
year, but it won't be long till that familiar beaming smile will be back on court, to once
again try to stop the bigger hitters in the game.
