Re: On a scale of 10, what would you give to Tina's 2007 season ?
I'd give her a 6/10. In 2007 she was playing as if she was a young and upcoming player again, though she began to stall at times (Wimbledon, USO to name a few events). She was more fearless and did much better than anyone expected her to do. The beginning of her 07 season was already better than that of her 06 debut, but then she started to lose matches where she was up, and her mental state simply took a killing.
Mix in the injuries during the clay season (surface where she can do the most damage vs top players) and it completely killed her season. Tried to come back after that and played semi-decent and then called it quits for the remainder of the year shortly into the indoor swing. Her second year back on tour was obviously going to be tougher than her first as she has points to defend, which eats at you more than playing a full year with a clean slate. Considering that and the fact that injuries kept her out for about 2-3 months of the entire season (that's almost half the season period!) and still being able to finish inside the top 20 says a lot about Hingis.
I expect her to come back stronger next year, though I doubt she'll be a main stay in the top 10; too many great players now and her body can't take it anymore. She'll still be able to win titles of significance and go deep in draws. If she is to win a slam, it'll be the Aussie Open because it's the one place she can surprise multiple top 10 players. Clay also, but by that time she won't be as fresh and won't be able to beat consecutive top seeds.
