Victoria AZARENKA: New career high for Victoria who is now a TOP 30 elite at only 18 y.o. Last week she made it to the QF at Moscow Tier I ousting n°21 Bammer and 2nd seed/n°4 Sharapova without dropping a set bnefore falling to back in form and eventual champion n°14Dementieva.
Zi YAN: Zi is more reknown as a Top double player. However, she's been performing really wel in single this year. She started the year around n°200, she's now a TOP 60. Last week she reached the SF at Bangkok Tier III upsetting TOP seed/n°3 Jankovic en route before losing in a tight 3 sets match vs n°97 Chan
Agkul AMANMURADOVA: Revealing year for Agkul who broke the Top 100 2 weeks ago. She's up 5 spots this week after qualifying at Bangkok Tier III losing to n°76 Rodionova.
Anna KORZENIAK: Anna is breaking the Top 200 after winning a $25K challenger at Nantes upsetting Top seed/n°144 Arvidsson and 8th seed/n°209 Pichet. Last week, she made it to the 2nd rd at Joué les Tours $50K falling to eventual Runner Up n°173 Barrois.
FASTER MOVEMENTS IN THE TOP 10, 20, 50, 100, 150 and 200
Elena DEMENTIEVA n°10 (+4): Elena is back to the Top 10 and now in a challenging position for the Year Endind Championships. Since a couple a week, Elena shows that she was back in form with encouraging victories. Last week, she proved that she was definitively back winning Moscow Tier I upsetting 7th seed/n°15 Schnyder and 4th seed/n°7 sErena Williams for the title.
Dinara SAFINA n°14 (+3): Dinara was struggling a little bit with her confidence. At Moscow, she found it back reaching the SF with a convincing victory over 3rd seed/n°6 Chakvetadze en route before losing to n°14 and eventual winner Dementieva.
Victoria AZARENKA n°27 (+5) and Vera Dushevina n°41 (+5): For Vicotria see above. Vera hasd a breakthrough year in 2005 finishing in the TOP 40. 2006 was a difficult year for her. She was under the pressure as a talented new comerand fall out of the Top 100 during spring 2007. She's now almost back to the TOP 40 reaching the QF at Moscow Tier I ousting 5th seed/n°12 Bartoli before losing to compatriot Top seeed/n°2 Kuznetsova.
Tatiana PEREBIYINIS n°97 (+33): After almost 3 years outside of the Top 100, Tatiana is back to that status. Last week she made it to the 2nd rd as a qualifer at Moscow Tier I upsetting talented n°31 Krajicek before falling to 4th seed/n°7 and eventual Runner Up Serena Williams.
Sofia ARVIDSSON n°127 (+16): The road is still very long from her best ranking in may 2006 at n°29. however Sofia is jumping from 16 places this week after winning Joué les tours $50K challenger ousting Top seed/n°105 Cetkovska en route and n°173 Barrois in final. Let's hope this victory will lift up Sofia's confidence within the newt couple of months.
