Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

She is serving better today, but I doubt she'll continue serving like this in her next matches, she has glimpses of good serves but that's all

STUPID, CLASSLESS, CHEATING, ATTENTION SEEKING, LOOKS LIKE A 45 YEAR OLD, EMBARRASSMENT TO THE NO.1 RANKING, NOT TO LEAVE HER GROSS MOM OUT, GREEN GREMLIN

Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

I know it seems like I say this about everyone but Nadia is kind of not a good returner of serve the past year or so.

She's served well, but in most of her matches her opponents shank returns and hit them back into the net quite often. I'm not sure what Jelena's putting on the ball to cause all the missed returns, but it's clearly working.

Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

no her serve is still the worst part of her game it's amazing how she gets away with it most of the time

Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

at least her serve is safe and she doesn't make too many DFs

Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

From what I saw in yesterday's match with Peer, I'd say she was going for it a bit more than usual at times but it's generally the same serve. I agree that somehow it seems to be more effective than one would think with a lot of shanked returns by certain opponents, but it's not being confused for a bullet at any moment. When she has it in her mind to play aggressively, she serves better...but these days it invariably flags as her stamina does.

Goodbye WTA and Jelena. It was nice being your fan once.

Cool Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

Yes, Jelena has obviously worked on her service. She served surprisingly well. I was really impressed. She had quite a few free points, which doesn't happen very often.

Yeah, and Elena D. has worked on her serve with Richard Krajicek. And Chakvetadze even worked with Landsdorp and changed her motion. But no difference. It's hard to make something that is a weakness become a weapon or really improve at all, and it's hard to change the technique that you've been used to for years. It's not like we've seen anything new from Hingis' either, and she had plenty of time to improve it. There are exceptions of course, like Davydenko's serve which has become a weapon for him against everyone besides Federer.

Maybe JJ will improve her serve, maybe she won't. But her forehand's come a long way so I think she has the capacity to make some sort of improvement.

Re: Has Jelena improved her serve?

It's because shoulder rotation is a given ability. You can make technical adjustments to a serve, but if the player has slow shoulder rotation, then they'll never have a good serve. Of course, there are players like Henin who just had bad technique, but others have no scope for improvement.

It's not that players like Dementieva, Chakvetadze, Jankovic, Hingis and Hantuchova are too stubborn to make changes, it's just that they have already reached full capacity.

Daniela Hantuchova.

Casey Dellacqua, Jelena Jankovic, Anna-Lena Groenefeld,
Jelena Dokic, Mirjana Lucic, Sara Tomic, Sloane Stephens
Melanie Oudin, Kiki Bertens, Kaia Kanepi, Alison Riske

Well... she'll have to do something otherwise not having a tournament to play would drive her crazy....

I dont think she's improved the serve.. I mean when would she have worked on it? She plays every week.....
