Can Venus & Serena both win respective titles this week?

Do you think Venus and Serena can both win titles this week? That would be great!!

The WTA needs them dominating once again.

I think Venus will win title number 2 in a row, and Serena definitely can do it, but she needs to step it up. Let us see how she fares in the Quarters tomorrow.

What do you think? A williams double title on Sunday?

If that's the case, Serena will walk away with a brand new Porsche while Venus will walk away with.....well.....possibly another vase

Re: Can Venus & Serena both win respective titles this week?

I think Venus will be pretty disappointed if she doesn't take the title this week. I can't see Molik defeating her tomorrow, and the semi-final would either be against Wozniaki or Zakopalova.

The bottom half is much more interesting, with Razzano and "Aces" Pin in seemingly great form. It's a little hit and miss with Pennetta and Mirza at the minute, but still, while I think each one of them could cause Venus a few problems in the final, I still fully expect her to take the title on Saturday.

As for Serena, the "easy" part of her draw is well and truly over..

Tomorrow's match against Kuznetsova will be a good measure of her play, but it's definitely going to be tough. I see her getting through it though, and probably going on to face Ivanovic in the semis (as well as Golovin is playing, I really can't see her taking revenge on Ana). Depending on Ivanovic's form, and obviously Serena's, this match could go either way. I imagine it to be a three setter, but Ivanovic just falling to the occasion.

I think Serena will probably take the title if anyone but Henin makes it through the top of the draw. If Justine powers past Hantuchova and Jankovic though, I'm scared for Serena in the final.

Venus - Yes
Serena - Possibly / Maybe not /

I actaully agree... the last thing the wta needs right now is someone to dominate.... they need contenders... And hopefully we're starting to see that InJankovic, Venus, Henin....

I hope that 2008 brings a resurgent Serena... Davenport..... Hingis (doubtful, but im keepin my fingers crossed)... Ivanovic actually being able to beat the top players.....Mauresmo?!!?!(another big if... but you know)

Yes i left Sharapova off, but thats cause i dont like her...

Also whens the last time they won titles the same week? and does anyone know how many times its happened? I know at least once....

I can see Venus winning Tokyo without difficulty.

Serena will probably have to face Justine in final which could be the difficulty.

I think they both can, Venus should have no problem doing so

For Serena it will be harder but she can do it.

if venus doesn't win that would be embarrassing, but i don't give serena much hope, the porsche has all ready got a personalised number plate that says JUJU 01

I think Venus will win Tokyo for sure who can stop her really
Serena, there's the Henin factor that causes her problems, so its quite tough for her.

I hope so!
