Re: Which is Justine's worst surface??

Even though Ju has a YEC and some titles indoors, I think Grass would suit much better her style..Mainly nerves and a very short grasss season have resulted in inability to win wimbledon..I heard somewhere, she particularly doesnt like indoors much..

Re: Which is Justine's worst surface??

I think it's pretty obvious that it's indoor hardcourts/carpet. Her grass record could be better obviously, but her record on indoor is pretty abysmal when compared with other top players' records.

Re: Which is Justine's worst surface??

It has to be Carpet (Indoors) - when was the last time she won it? (Note: YEC is indoors, but since it isn't a carpet, it doesn't count)

Australian Open 2010 Final Result:-
Lost to Serena Williams 4-6, 6-3, 2-6 (Great job, girl! Now prepare for FO!)

it has to be indoor carpet
and i think slow hardcourts are her second best surface after clay, she won dubai multiple times including this year, doha, sydney, toronto, australia all are slow hardcourts

Re: Which is Justine's worst surface??

Statistically (and realistically), it's carpet:

* only one title (without facing a top-10 player)
* not impressive (for player of her level) win-loss record - 28-16
* disastrous combined record vs Top-10 players - 0-9
* equally bad record against GS champions she played on the surface - 0-8 (Seles 0-2; Serena 0-1; Venus 0-1; Davenport 0-1; Clijsters 0-2; Myskina 0-1)

She also won the USO twice on fast hard courts. I think that, today, indoor hard courts are ideal for her game as there is no wind or sun to interfere with serving and shot making.

Considering she has played all but 4 matches on this surface since 2003 (and none after that year) it does not really means much by today.
Henin´s worst surface is grass, she is not confortable at it, at least that´s the surface where she is more vulnerable at.

It's quite obvious Henin played more carpet court tournaments than grass court ones. And we're talking about overall achievements, I supposed...
And btw, she played Paris Indoors this year and lost to Safarova.

In all fairness to Justine, that was her first tournament of the year, and Safarova was playing quite well (for once).

Regardless of loss to Safarova, ALL numbers say carpet is Henin's worst surface. C'mon, 0-9 vs Top-10, 0-8 vs GS champions on carpet...
She reached two Wimbledon finals and won Eastbourne twice, how could grass be her worst surface?

I already agreed with that, lol, I'm just saying that the Paris tournament isn't a good example to show that.

You miss the fact that Justine will always be at a disadvantage to big hitters/serves on an indoor carpet. I'm not necessarily saying it is a huge disadvantage or that she can never be the favorite, but she is uncomfortable on the fastest surfaces of the tour. However, she has learned to cope and overcome with her mental toughness and adjusting her game.
