Exclamation Venus has only one more chance this year to tie Marti in Slams...

...and I don't think she's going to do it because Serena is the overwhelming favourite to win the US Open. Poor Venus must be frustrated cos her sister has loads of confidence and will most likely beat Venus again.

and also Martina got hers in a 3 year span, 1997, 98, 99.

2000, 2001, 2002. If Venus gets the US Open, they both got 5 in 3 years.

Nice and tidy.

I doubt Venus even knows this, let alone cares.

Toineefa - I remember not so long ago people writing that Venus and Serena TOGETHER would never have as many GS titles as Martina. Funny how life works out.

My guess is, Martina is worrying about her ankle, and Venus is resting her shoulder, and both of them are thinking more about Serena's game than each other's.

Volcana but as individuals Marti still has more. And the Willi's have never even made it to the Australian Open final.

Toineefa, look, I understand that you are a huge Hingis fan and don't like the Williams sisters. I am in the same boat as you (lol at calling me a Williams fan). BUT you are opening up a can of trouble with this topic, and lots of people are going to come in and bash the Swiss Miss. Then I will feel obligated to defend her, getting myself in trouble by the other posters and by the mods, wasting my time. The last thing I want to do at this time of night is have ANOTHER argument with a Venus fan (I've already had too many today) so please, quietly let this thread sink to the bottom of the forums.

Thankyou

Toineefa - Is any of that actually important to you? It's true they are the same age, but it's not like Martina and Venus are rivals or anything. Once upon a time sure, but nowadays, the Belgians are the threat to Venus, and the only 'rival' is Serena. Martina's still a good player, but she lost Indian Wells to Hantuchova?!?! Dani's nice, but she's a year away, as her results since Indian Wells have shown.

Whatever. Just keep posting under this name when Martina gets back.
