Giving up on Daniela

I've always been one of her biggest supporters but she started driving me mad. After a few good tournaments, she goes and loses in the first round of USO. You feel sorry her but she seems to care less than her fans about these losses. Instead of being a bit more tough on herself she's again in the "if I win a few tier 3s each year and make enough money, I don't care" mood - doing all types of unnecessary PR things like catwalks etc. I don't see the slightest aim of improving her game and doing better in the majors.

As I remember Daniela never won ANY tier 3...Daniela game may be annoying sometimes...Shes able to lost with everyone, but she could beat top5 player too...If she win Bali I'd be more happy than
if she would reach 4rd at USO...

I'm alaways right, even when Im wrong...

Re: Giving up on Daniela

She's the most annoying player to be a fan of. She could be great, but she never will be. Every good run is followed by a disappointing tournament and every top10 win is coupled by an embarassing loss.

In saying that she has improved this year a lot, but the fact that she finally won another title, and is now in her 6th SF of the year (last year she made 2) highlights even more so her bad losses, like 1R USO. I don't think she'll ever be consistent enough to reach the top but i like following her because every time she makes a great run it's unexpected and better for it! (although then you always expect another and the 1R losses appear, and the circle continues!)

Not any in the top 3, apparently.

Re: Giving up on Daniela

i feel she hasn't improved her game at all since she burst onto the scene! shes not incorperated a slice or learnt to hit more top spin on the forehand. also her serve could be much better and do more damage but its so predictable! sorry to any dani fans but i feel she plays without a brain, she has no sense of when to just get the ball in or when to tighten up her game!

Kuznetsova is a top 3 player and she dispatched her at Indian Wells.

Kuznetsova was No.4 back then. Daniela has never beat a Top-3 player.

she's still pretty cute though.....right? ...guys?....

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

Re: Giving up on Daniela

She's lost 28 times in a grand slam.

2007 AO - l. to Clijsters
2007 Wimbledon - l. to S. Williams
2006 AO - l. to Sharapova
2006 FO - l. to Clijsters
2006 Wimbledon - l. to Henin
2006 USO - l. to S. Williams
2005 AO - l. to Dementieva (okay, at AO, that's kind of embarrassing )
2005 FO - l. to Clijsters
2005 Wimbledon - l. to V. Williams
2005 USO - l. to V. Williams
2004 Wimbledon - l. to Sharapova
2003 AO - l. to V. Williams
2002 AO - l. to V. Williams
2002 FO - l. to Seles
2002 Wimbledon - l. to S. Williams
2002 USO - l. to S. Williams
2001 AO - l. to Kournikova (top 10 at the time)
2001 Wimbledon - l. to V. Williams

18/28 losses to those players. Yeah, losing to Tanasugarn, Shinobe, Harkleroad, Vakulenko, Medina-Garrigues, Dechy, Schnyder, Martinez, Molik, and one other I don't remember--not the best losses but not really THAT bad aside from her 2003 FO and Wimbledon collapses.

She usually ends up losing to the person she's supposed to at GSs more often than not. On the tour level events...okay I can't explain those but everyone has bad days. 2007 is easily her second best season; I would figure her fans would be happy because of that. I know I am.
